Before Eid Prayer (Eid ul-Fitr 2013), Mawlana congratulated all of us and explained the meaning of Eid and the value of Takbir.
Sultan ul-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Al-Haqqani An-Naqshibandi (qs), Sohbat – 8th August, 2013.
As-Salamu alaikum, O yaran of Shah Mardan. The ahbab of Shah Mardan, may Salam be upon you. On this holy day when Ramadan Sharif is completed, may Salam be upon the believers who are ready to celebrate Bayram/the festival.
Madad Ya Sahibu-l Maydan, Shah Mardan. May you grant us from your holy words. Your yaran are your admirers. May we kiss the hands, the feet of our Master who is the Fakhru l- Ka’inat, the pride of all Creation (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) and may he grant us his intercession and compassion. This is a sohbat from Shah Mardan. It is according to our level, our capacity. If we pass beyond our capacity, it is of no benefit. Welcome to you, O yaran of Shah Mardan. Marhaba to those who attend the assembly of the lovers of Shah Mardan. O our Shah Mardan, the Lion of lions!
Mubarak the feast of Ramadan Sharif. May it be mubarak for you and mubarak for us also. Come in- O yaran, O ahbab. Kunu Ibad’Allahi ikhwana – the servants of Allah are are brothers. Let us say Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim- remember the Majestic Name of our Mawla, and that He accepted us for His servanthood. He (Subhānahu wa Ta‘āla) dressed us with that honour. Let us praise, thank our Lord. Let us put our foreheads on the ground for sajda. Even if there was no order to make sajda, to prostrate before Who created us, to make sajda for Him is the glory/shan & iftikhar/ pride of the people.
Go ahead O Shah Mardan. Today is the first day of the Ramadan Feast- it is Bayram (Eid/Festival). What have we done that it came to be a festival? We have done/accomplished something according to our capacity & Allah Almighty is paying in return. The great Angels are surprised in the Heavens- “These children of Adam are on the streets this morning. They are rushing somewhere all together, with such joy”. Subhan Allah. Come in O Muslims. There is a shadumani/happiness. You can’t see, you can’t celebrate this happiness, this joy every day. Shadumani, it is bayram/festival. The servants of Allah put on their clean dresses, put on their new dresses and they are walking in the streets, in crowds at the time of dawn. To where are they walking? They are going to the Diwan/Assembly of their Lord to make sajda for their Lord, to make shukur & to find the joy of being forgiven by chanting Allahu Akbar.
What is the day today? What day? Do you not hear it in the streets, in the dawn? in the mosques- “Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La Ilaha Ill’Allahu w’Allahu akbar Allahu akbar wa lillahi l-hamd”. Allah. “Dress on them” He (swt) says, “dress on them barakah/blessings- dress on My servants from the barakah of Heavens that they are magnifying Me. They are saying “Allahu Akbar”. Dress on them, dress on them from the Nurani dress of Heavens that they may be pleased. Their Eid may be mubarak. O Angels! You also join them. You also say the Takbir”. The Islamic nations are gaining majesty with Takbir. They are – the servants of Allah- are walking through the streets arrayed in lines. Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La Ilaha Ill’Allahu w’Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar wa liLlahi l-Hamd.
The Malaika Kiram, the great Angels also join them and set off an uproar in dunya – whole dunya is in an uproar- dunya is shaking with the Takbirs of this holy day, the Eid of Ramadan. Allahu Akbar! They shake dunya like the rocking of a cradle. Listen to the words of the holy Shah Mardan and walk with him. Ka’anna, ka’annahu- you will be as if you walked with the Shah Mardan. Al mar’u maa man ahabba. The person is with the one he loves. Love and you will be loved. You should know who to love. O our Lord! Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La Ilaha Ill’Allahu w’Allahu akbar Allahu Akbar wa lillahi l-Hamd. Dunya is shaking, from every direction. On the oceans the Angels who are appointed for the oceans as well as the holy ones, the murabit (saints appointed to look after a particular place), are reciting the Takbir. Not only these, but there is the group who are not responsible yet they even recite in their own language, the poor ones. Takbir is not for them but they have their tasbih / praising. “Wa in min shayin illa yusabbihu bihamdihi walakin la tafqahuna tasbeehahum”. (17:44)
Everything has its tasbih- they have their tasbih, their tazim/glorification of their Creator. “Subhan Allah, Subhan Allah, Subhan Allah”- there is not one atom that does not say this, S. Mehmet Effendi. The Angels of the Seven Heavens on this holy day of Eid- the voice of each one of them is like the voice of the Angel of Ra’ad (the angel responsible for thunder & rain)- recite the Takbir. Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La Ilaha Ill’Allahu w’Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa liLlahi l-Hamd. How beautiful. Go ahead O Shah Mardan. How beautiful. What a beautiful day today is. To where are all these people going? They go magnifying their Lord. The children of Adam magnify & the rest of the creation praises / makes tasbih.
So it is today that Shah Mardan said these few words to us. O holy Shah Mardan. Man is the Hz Insan. His maqam/station is high. He is the Caliph on earth. So one should appreciate the honour of Man accordingly. Man should appreciate the honour of other Men. Who doesn’t know this falls down to the category of animals. Who know the honour rank of Man- they are dressed especially with a dress from Heavens. They are dressed with a new dress of Eid. There is no value in dunya (wordly) dresses. We didn’t do anything, but in Allah Almighty’s Presence, our simple glorification, praise and exaltation is accepted. An order is coming – dress My servants who are making Takbir with a dress of Eid from heavens. What a dress it is. That is why if people knew that rank, they wouldn’t stay in the stable of animals. They would run to the assemblies of the Yaran (beloved friends) of Shah Mardan while reciting Divine Takbir (Allahu Akbar).
What a nice day. The Angels are in the streets. Where are they going? They are going to make Shukr Sajdah (prostration of thanks) to their Lord. They are the ones who value Holy Ramadan. They did what they could according to their capacity. Don’t give them from the dress of dunya. Give them… Today everyone wears new dunya clothes too, in order to show appreciation for the value of this day. They wear their clean clothes, even if it has patches. They wear their clean, new clothes. Where do they go while saying Takbir? They are going to do their servanthood for their Lord and give praise.
Madad Ya Shah Mardan. Shah Mardan is giving his Yaran good tidings – Today, you are going early in the morning while making Takbir. We won’t leave you with patched clothes; we won’t leave you with dunya dresses. You will be dressed with the dress of honor from heavens. That’s why they go with joy. They go with hope and return with joy and they will find everything.
Welcome our Yaran (beloved friends). May your honor be forever. May you live a nice life. May your life in dunya be a nice life, a sweet life, an honorable life. O Shah Mardan, go ahead. Your Yaran admire you. Those who love him are his Yaran, his beloved friends. Let’s love and be loved. Those who love are loved. Love Muslims. Defend/ support Muslims. Stay away from those who are far from Islam. Don’t give them your hand, don’t be close to them. Allahu Akbar. Be close to those who love Islam. Stay away from those who don’t love Islam. Even if they have a treasure like Qarun, don’t be close to them, don’t ask from them. They can’t match Islam’s honor, beauty, richness, lights, Islam’s holiness and blessings.
O Muslims, listen. Let’s listen to Shah Mardan. This is what he is saying. Love so you can be loved. Love Allah and run to Him. Love our Master and run to him. Run away from those who don’t love them. Don’t go, O Muslim, don’t go to those who don’t come to Islam. Don’t beg from them. Don’t deal with them even if they give you money. Keep the honor of Islam, and Allah Almighty will send you grants like rain. Subhan Allah, Sultan Allah. Our Lord, our Sultan, our Lord, our Subhan, who did He dress with those attributes? He dressed our Master (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam). Awliya (saints) call him – Fakhru Ka’inat/ Pride of the Universe. Look at our Master, the Master of the Universe (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam). Don’t look anywhere else. Even if they pile gold in front of you, kick it aside and leave it. The love of the Pride of the Universe, and his honor is enough for us. O Turks, you have become bewildered. O Arabs, you have become confused. You are running after democracy. That is a WC. Whoever falls in it will drown. Come to the clean way. We are Muslims. Don’t search for anything other than Islam. There is no honor in that. Honor is with Muslims. There is nothing for them outside Islam.
O our Lord, give us strength. O Shah Mardan, may your words be a cure for those present. Let’s fill our mosques. Let’s say – Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La ilaha illa Allah wa Llahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa liLlahi l-Hamd. How nice. Today is the day that special mercy comes down from heavens to those who kept the orders during the holy Ramadan so they can celebrate and pray 2 rak’at. MashaAllah, mashaAllah. Let’s appreciate it and dress with Islam. Let’s dress as Muslims. You can’t find any other dress as beautiful as the dress of Muslims. You can’t find the dress of Islam or dress of Muslims anywhere else. Those who see you should know that you are Muslim.
Our Lord, our Subhan, our Sultan, for the sake of Your Beloved Habib (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam), You gave us all these blessings. Let’s love You. Let’s walk on Your way. Let’s find honor on Your way. There is no honor on any other way. Say – Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar la ilaha illa Allah wa Llahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa liLlahi l-Hamd. Eid prayer is with Takbir. How nice it is with Takbir. And now, today, it is almost time for Eid prayer. These few words from Shah Mardan are enough for us. It is enough for the whole world and for 7 worlds. Let’s say – Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar la ilaha illa Allah wa Llahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa liLlahi l-Hamd. Al-‘Azamatu liLlah.
Yesterday, the whole universe trembled like this. And there was the glorification & exaltation of the Angels. Go ahead, our brothers, make dua (supplication) for us too. May your honor increase. Man’s honor is from Islam. There is no honor outside of Islam. Allahumma salli ‘ala Sayyidina Muhammad Sayyidi l-Awwalina wa l-Akhirin. Salat and Salam to our Master who is the Sultan of sultans. May it be easy for us to follow the ways he showed us. May our faces be full of lights and our hearts pure. May our end be a good one. Go with clean ones. Don’t open your hand to kafir (unbelievers). Don’t wish anything from them. Say “Allah” and go. Say “Allah” and set out. This is enough for today. Today’s explanation and pronouncement could continue until next year, but this is enough. Our Khalifa (representative) Sheikh Mehmed Effendi will give a talk and others will benefit.
Pray for us too.
To draw near to his Lord ﷻ – this is the goal of the men, to gain nearness to Allāh ﷻ.
Sultan ul-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Al-Haqqani An-Naqshibandi(Qs), Sohbat, 14th July, 2013. From wherever they make us start, is from where they open up a way … Continue reading The Ocean of Being

Sultan ul-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Al-Haqqani An-Naqshibandi (qs), Sohbat, 13th July, Ramadan 2013.
As-Salam alaikum ayyuhal yaran. O yaran of Shah Mardan. Marhaba. Welome to you. You came with khair and may you find khair/goodness. May we find khair. Go ahead O Shah Mardan. Your yaran are your admirers. Ya Rabbi, You created us beautiful. Shukur to You our Mawla. He (swt) created Man the most beautiful in all creation. Our Allah, our Subhan, our Sultan. May our hearts open. May Shah Mardan send us power. Our assembly is a spiritual assembly. What is the title of a spiritual assembly? It is Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim – A spiritual assembly. Man has spirituality as well as, a body that belongs to dunya. “We should prefer the spiritual side” says Shah Mardan. The spiritual side- spiritual side is a pearl, is a diamond. What is outside of that assembly are the things that fill the toilets. The people…
Let Shah Mardan go ahead now & we slowly learn from him. Al ‘ilmu bi’t-ta’allum. Ta’allamu fa innal ‘ilma Nurun. Learn – learn knowledge that is Nur. Knowledge is Nur, gives Nur. Go ahead O Shah Mardan. What Allah Wills happens and what he doesn’t Will, doesn’t happen. Grant us power and make our assembly be spiritual, O Shah Mardan. We are not created for dunya. Here, this is the important point- We are not created for dunya. Go ahead O Shah Mardan, for Whom are we created? If we are created for dunya, we are animals. Animals have no honour. We are not created for dunya. We are created for our Lord- the Rabbu-l ‘Arshu-l Azim, the Subhan Allah. “Wa Ma Khalaqtu l-Jinna Wa l-‘Insa ‘illa Li ya’buduni”(51:56) Haqq SubhanaHu wa Ta’ala says. Here, Shah Mardan starts the dictation. What he means by ‘this dictation’ is, that he starts supporting, giving strength to our spiritualities. We are in need of this. Madad Ya RijalAllah.
We are not created for dunya. It is a wrong idea; it is a thought that is not true. Man is not created for dunya. (Mawlana sings) “Al-Khaliqu l-Yazdan created you – The Mighty Creator, Al-Khaliqul Jabbar, created you for service in khilqat. Man is created for service. Rabbu-l Izzat dresses a new rank for each service. Here, Shah Mardan Hz informs us of what Man is created for. If our mission is to eat and drink… O Shah Mardan, go ahead. The disciples of the Prophet Jesus said: “May a table from Heavens come down for us”. All their concern and thoughts were after the table. “Do you have no faith? He said. But let me see it that my heart may be at rest”(2:260) Look, these are the disciples of Prophet Jesus. What did they ask for? “May a table come down for us”. The table you asked for from Heavens does not come down from Heavens. It is on earth.
What do you seek from the Malakut/Heavens? You asked for a table, which offers eating and drinking to satisfy your animal being. Shame on you. What are we? You should be aware of what you ask. You should be aware of what you are also. Only animals are just concerned with eating and drinking. Eating & drinking is not the honour of al-insan al-kamil (the perfect man). Al-insan al-kamil’s whole concern is not about eating, drinking or dressing up. Al-insan al-kamil. “Wa Ma Khalaqtu l-Jinna Wa l-‘Insa ‘Illa Liya’buduni”(51:56). “Liya’buduni”. Allahu Akbarul Akbar. You are Subhan. “(I created Men and Jinn so that) they acknowledge Me, they know Me, they tasdiq/affirm My Sultanate and perform service in My Sultanate- they attain to the honour of serving in My Sultanate; they serve Me. I didn’t create them for serving this dunya”. Amantu BiLlah. Go ahead O Shah Mardan. Allah did not create us from the category of those who have no concern other than eating & drinking. Allah Allah.
There are all these creatures – their only concern is eating & drinking. (Mawlana sings) “Al- Khaliqu-l Yazdan created you for service”. Shame on us! Janab-i Mawla, Khaliqu-l Yazdan created you for..” says Shah Mardan who speaks from Heavenly knowledge – (Mawlana sings) “Al-Khaliqu-l Yazdan created you for service”. Our minds are corrupted from the beginning, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi. He (swt) created you for service. Allahu Dhu-l Jalal, Who is the Absolute Owner of the everlasting, never-ending Sultanate, created you for service. Allahu Akbar. What a great honour! The way Prophets show people to follow, S.Mehmet Effendi, is the way of service. If the Prophet, alayhi Salatu was-Salam, was concerned about his belly, he could have set tables, eaten & then got busy with tables again. But that was not his concern. Huuu. (M.sings) “He created you for service”. This is the voice of Malakut (Heavens).
Go ahead O Shah Mardan. He (swt) created you for service. For which service? Did He create you to build houses, to build villages, to enjoy dunya? O shameless, no mind, no understanding people! Shame on the people, to what do they attribute the wisdom of their creation? To eating and drinking. And in the end, to the toilet – to fill the toilet. Allah SubhanaHu wa Ta’ala made you responsible for the highest service. Go ahead O Shah Mardan. “He created you for service”. Service. Service for whom? Service for whom? Not for the service of little kids or animals. But for Al-Khaliqu-l Yazdan, for the One Allah, Shah Mardan says repeatedly. That Shah Mardan who is the Shah of Oceans says repeatedly – “Your service is not for dunya”. Your service is – Al-Khaliqu l-Yazdan Allahu Dhu-l Jalal created you for service”. He (swt) appointed us for His Own service. Astonishing. And what are we doing? We do the service of the donkey or horse we ride – Let us eat the best, dress the best, go to the best places. Man is not created for this.
Go ahead O Shah Mardan. “Khaliqu-l Yazdan created you for service”. Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa Lillahi-l Hamd. Say this and see how your life changes – experience the taste and honour. O ignorant Man! “‘Innahu Kana Zalumaan Jahulaan”(33:72). Is it like this? Man is jahul and zalim at the same time. Zalum meaning very unjust, Jahul meaning very ignorant. Do we have a school to teach us, to speak to us about Rabbu-l Izzat, or about how we should serve, or about Whom we should serve? “Well, we have physical education, sports classes for the children”. What benefit does it give? Half of the people on earth became crazy for the ball (games). May the ball remove the ones with this mentality. The whole world stands and people fight each other for a ball game. Well, putting what we call a ball, in the shape of a sphere in a field – putting a football and applying all our power, all our thoughts, all our life, all our mission to it- what kind of a thing is this? “‘Innahu Kana Zalumaan Jahulaan”. Men are oppressors and very ignorant at the same time. The whole world rises for the news. Of what? This sports club had a striking victory against the other. What is its benefit? What did you gain? What did you learn? What did you do?
Everything that belongs to dunya is filthy to the extent that you can’t even look at it. Approach the assembly of Shah Mardan, O yaran of Shah Mardan- O holy one, O who seek the way to the assembly of the holy ones. Look for it. This dunya is not created for playing ball, for the people to enjoy, or to eat & drink. Change your way of thinking. Tawba Ya Rabbi. Khaliqu-l Yazdan created you for service. Allahu Dhu-l Jalal created you for service. What else do you serve? Football! This club, that… The huge city of Istanbul rises up with this. Your minds are not even as big as a bird. A bird at least flies by itself and goes around. What about you? “And we are running after football” they say. You, who are the most honoured creature, is your job playing football? Shaytan made the world go crazy with football. It did that and then set the people against each other with the assertion – “You are ahead & I am behind?” They don’t accept.
Astaizu BiLlah, what did Pharaoh say to the Prophet Moses? Shaykh Mehmet Effendi, pay attention to this Holy Verse. “‘In Turidu ‘illa ‘An Takuna Jabbaran Fi l-‘Ardi Wa Ma Turidu” Ya Musa.(28:19) You want to be a jabbar/tyrant on earth? Look at this Holy Verse, the claim of tyranny. There is the dirty ego in people, where does it drive us to? Pharaoh describes it- Ya Musa, you want to be a tyrant on earth – “‘In Turidu ‘Illa ‘An Takuna Jabbaran Fil-‘Ardi”. What it means with jabbar, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi, is the person who has power over everyone. Pharaoh – his attribute was that, there should be no one like him. They play ball & claim “We should be the first”. They play other games and say “We should be number one”. It is not suitable for mankind to play ball. “‘In Turidu ‘Illa ‘An Takuna Jabbaran”. O Moses, do you want to be a tyrant, like Pharaoh claims to be a tyrant? “‘In Turidu ‘Illa ‘An Takuna Jabbaran Fil- ‘Ardi”. It says “Your claim is…” It also means dictatorship.
“‘In Turidu ‘Illa ‘An Takuna Jabbaran”. If your (Musa) claim is to rule the world, I had this claim before you” Pharaoh says. He thought Prophet Musa’s invitation was the same as his invitation. He, himself, said “I am Pharaoh. You should worship me. I am the Jabbar. I can burn, destroy”. You can burn, destroy and then you cry in the middle of the sea: Amantu bi Rabbi Bani Israil. In the end you say, “I also believe in the God of Israil”. There are many like this. All the claims are about this, Shaykh Mehmet. Pharaoh says to Prophet Moses, “‘In Turidu ‘Illa ‘An Takuna Jabbaran Fi l-‘Ardi”. He means “You want to rule the earth like me?”. Allah Allah. To where does Man’s dirty ego drive him? The helper of the dirty ego is shaytan. It mounted the necks of the people and people say “I am. I am. There can’t be anyone above me”.
The “potin” (shoe in Turkish) who is called Putin says “I am the best Potin”. The man in America, originally African, who can’t even handle small things, says: “You can’t do anything! I have all the power in my hand”. What is the benefit? Why do you keep that power in your hand? Do you mean to make dunya better or to destroy the people? Why do you hold it? These people are Allah’s creation. Their hands are tied- they are madhlum / oppressed people. They only think about their food. You captured these people and drove them into the fire of war. For what? “I am the number one”. And Potin says “No, I am”. “‘In Turidu ‘Illa ‘An Takuna Jabbaran Fi l-‘Ardi”. Pharaoh’s address to Prophet Moses: “Do you want to be a tyrant?” The characteristic of today’s people is tyranny. He(swt) didn’t create us to be tyrants.
Come to your senses. “‘In Turidu ‘Illa ‘An Takuna Jabbaran Fi l-‘Ardi”. “I may rule every part of the earth and do as I like. This is what I want”. That attribute belongs to Allah Almighty, not to you! But Prophet Moses was told this. Pharaoh thinks that Prophet Moses is also after dunya, in the dunya hunt like himself. “‘In Turidu ‘Illa ‘An Takuna Jabbaran Fi l-‘Ardi”. People have become ignorant, they have become ignorant. “‘In Turidu ‘Illa ‘An Takuna Jabbaran Fi l-‘Ardi”. “You want to be a tyrant who rules the earth Ya Musa?” says Pharaoh to Sayyidina Musa. Hasha, thumma kalla. His (S.Musa) way is the way of Allah. What is the way of the Bani Israil now, still? Their way is tyranny. They are a small country like this but they say “I can rule over the whole world”. Of what value is the dunya you want to rule? Take dunya & put it on your head. Other nations follow them too whether they like it or not. One man appears, they call him “dictator”. What is his profession? Democracy. He cheats the people with democracy and succeeds in his tyranny this way. All the world’s people are like this.
“‘In Turidu ‘Illa ‘An Takuna Jabbaran Fi l-‘Ardi”. “O Moses, do you want to be ruler on earth under one dictatorship?” Pharaoh says this. Well, it is Pharaoh’s own profession. But Prophet Moses’ profession is not this. Prophet Moses is for collecting people in the Presence of Allah and making his nation gain honour in Allah Almighty’s service. But they ran away from it. They said “No, we can’t follow Moses”. “Who do you follow?” Al ‘ijl, the calf, (2:51)- this is the mentality of Bani Israil. They say “Al ‘ijl”, “we have a calf made from gold and we want this”. What does it tell you? Moooo! Look at the mentality of Bani Israil. They preferred it and what did it say? Moooo. They call out, saying “We have a calf of gold”. Shaytan goes on your golden calf 1000x a day & makes you eat it. Tawba AstaghfiruLlah. Come to the right way! Keep your honour.
Man’s honour is in serving His Lord. O our Lord, may You accept us. It is Ramadan Sharif. It is Ramadan Sharif. It is the holy month in which the Quran Azimu sh-Shan descended. It came to bring us honour, to dress us with honour. We should show respect for it. “We do”. “How?” “Here, we set iftar tables”. And then you attack the tables like hungry wolves to eat. Where are the advices of the Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam)? Where is the understanding level of today’s people? They can’t say. Go ahead O Shah Mardan & say. He says “I may say but then many heads will be taken”. Many heads will be taken. The heads of those who leave the service of their Lord will be taken. Then shaytan will turn to them & laugh, “This is where I brought you.” O our Lord. May You protect us from being tyrants. Our dirty ego is after the claim of tyranny, meaning it’s after the claim of Pharaoh- This party, that sect… “We are better”. The other say “No, we are better”. All of them are “‘In Turidu ‘Illa ‘An Takuna Jabbaran Fi l-‘Ardi”. Read the holy Quran, O our Hojas! Allah Allah. Allah Allah. Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa Lillahi-l Hamd.
May You accept us for Your servanthood Ya Rabbi. Go ahead O Shah Mardan. Your yaran are in need of your teaching. Ya Mardan, you are Shah Mardan. May the holy ones come who will teach us. May the troops who will raise the flags of Islam come. May the lions come. May the lions come who will throw dunya like a ball under their feet. Allahu Akbarul Akbar. Allahu Akbarul Akbar. La ilaha illa Allahu W’Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar wa LiLlahi-l Hamd. May our inside be filled with iman, O Lord. Go ahead O Shah Mardan. Your yaran are your admirers. They say “we want a flag so that we can show the whole world, Who is its Owner. What is our job? Its Owner is Allah and we are His servants. There is no one but Him”.
Tawfiq/success is from Allah Almighty. O our Lord, may You grant us power in this holy month. We don’t want the power of eating & drinking. We want spiritual power. Go ahead O Shah Mardan. Your yaran are your admirers. Let us say Bismillahi r-Rahman, Bismillahi r- Rahmani r-Rahim. May it open, may we gain strength. May our majesty increase. May our lives be spent in Your way, O our Lord. You are Subhan, You are Sultan. May You accept our servanthood for the honour of holy Ramadan.
Sultan ul-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al Haqqani (qs), sohbat – July 12, Ramadan 2013

Ya hadirun, whose hearts are with Shah Mardan, may peace be upon you, may salam be on you. SalatuLlah, SalamuLlah Ala l-Hadi Rasullulah. Allah Allah. Please go on Shah Mardan. Let’s open up to get strength, to get light. May power reach us from the Assembly of Wisdom (‘Irfan). Let’s speak, Ay Yaran Shah Mardan! The friends of Shah Mardan, those who are on his way, when there are good ones why spend time with bad ones. Ad-deenu nasiha. Allah (jj) sent religion. What is religion? It is to give advice. It is the instruction of Shah Mardan that will show you the way. From whom did he take it? The Shah of Prophethood was born, he stepped on the Arsh, the Divine Throne. Allahu Akbar.
Pay respect to our Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam), revere the Master of the Universe. The Shah of Prophethood was born, he stepped on the Arsh, the Divine Throne. Allahu Akbar. What was his order to Prophet Musa? Sheikh Mehmet Effendi, Prophet Musa was ordered: Fakhla na’layk, fakhla Ya Musa.
“Fakhla’ na’layk innaka bi l-wadi l-muqaddasi tuwa.” (20:12)
Allahu Akbar. Allah, His Majestic addressing. “Ya Musa take off your shoes!” Aman Ya Rabbi forgive us! Let’s learn adab, manners. Fakhla’ na’layk, “You are in a sacred valley. You are in a sacred maqam (place). Take off your shoes. Approach in bare feet”. “Fakhla’ na’layk innaka bi l-wadi l-muqaddasi tuwa.” When He says ‘Tuwa’, none know its meaning. Allahu Akbar. O Lord, may the ones who can teach, come to us. Please go on Shah Mardan, teach us. He will teach, you should learn. As you learn you will get honour. As you acquire honour he will let you approach the Station of Qurbiyyat (nearness). Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa Lillahi’l hamd.
Since the day they were created the holy angels made dhikr of Allah. You too must do it. What an honour it is to recite the name of Janabul Haqq, to praise Him, to glorify Him. What a great honour that is! O foolish people! If only they knew. Please go on Shah Mardan! You, your assembly, the assembly of your friends, the assembly of those who love you; you teach them about real beauty. Why did you come to this world? In order to learn about its beauty. May you see the beauties that are offered to mankind by Rabbul Izzat. “Fakhla’ na’layk innaka bi l-wadi l-muqaddasi tuwa.” Prophet Musa trembled, ala Nabi alaihi s-salatu wa s-salam.
May salam go to all who are present. May our day be joyful, may our heart be like the oceans. May our faith bring down the mountains! Allahu Akbar, tremble. It trembled, it trembled. Isn’t it the mountain of Tur? It trembled from that Divine address. The Tur mountain. What is the Tur mountain? What an honour for the Mountain of Tur that it knew! O Sheikh Mehmet Effendi, may Allah open you up, may power be given to you. The praise of the Lord is our occupation. The Praise of the Lord by the way of Shah Mardan reaches Habibullah. O our Lord, fill our hearts with love and devotion to You and, with the light of Your servanthood, O Lord, so that we have no more worries.
What worries can remain? Why do you have worries? -Ey, “We couldn’t earn anything!” What can you earn from a rubbish dump? What can you earn from this world? The world is a rubbish dump. They say ‘we couldn’t earn!’ You didn’t come to this world to collect filth, you came to be a lion. Please go on Shah Mardan. He said, to be a lion, not to be a fox. We call them sewer rats that prowl about in sewage. It enters the sewer, pulls out and gets happy. That big rat, we call a sewer rat, becomes happy. It enters the sewer and pulls out. O mindless people, what do you want? Do you want to act like that sewer rat? Is this your occupation? O People! Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar.
May we open up, may our hearts open up, may our physical being open up and be refreshed! O People, you can open up with the name of Allah Jalla Jalaluhu, open up, refresh and rejoice. Shah Mardan is teaching you, you who are following him. What is his business? What is he running after? After dunya (this world)? What is dunya? A filthy place, where people dispose of their filth. Whoever comes to this world, leaves their filth behind. Why do you run after it? O Lord, fill us with the beautiful wisdom of the holy ones so that we may become pure. Let us be ready! The army has a command: “Be ready!” Be ready, stand up! The command for human beings is, “Be ready!” When you get the command “Be ready”, say: Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim, O our Lord.
It is a Divine command to us from our Subhan. Be ready to be servants of the Lord Most High. We didn’t come here for worldy affairs, nor to collect the filth of this world. Leave that. May your souls open up! O our Lord, may our hearts open up! May our hearts shine! May we walk in Your way! Let us be filled with love and passion for You as that is what we will collect. HubbuLlah HubbuLlah, fill your heart with the love of Allah! Wa hubbu Rasulullah. Plant the love of al-Habib whom Allah Dhul Jalal loves, in your heart. Go after this!
Mountains and hills remain where they stand. You, a finger-sized being, of what gain are these mountains to you? Is it tasteful? What is the use? What is this craving for mountains? Say? O our Lord! Please go on, speak Shah Mardan! Tell these mindless, heedless people, tell them, O heedless ones if you yearn for mountains and hills, you can have them. Place them in your pocket, take them with you! Not only you, but many kings lived and departed this world. Their claim: “I own everything”, but in the end they saw that they didn’t.
They called him Alexander the Great (Iskandari Kabir). Have you studied history? Iskandari Kabir (Alexander the Great). Alexander the Great said, “Let me see how far I have reached. How far I have reached and what domains I hold in my pocket and those that I can’t hold in my pocket”. Could anyone hold dunya in his pocket, my son? No! What is it to hold dunya in a pocket? If you could take it, it is yours to take. Put it in your pocket and take it with you. He said, “let me see”. He was attributed with greatness. A servant of Allah, his name is still mentioned. Alexander the Great, he was called. He set out from Macedonia, he reached India, China. He saw that nothing could be owned or put in the pocket. Allah Allah. Allah Allah.
Where does greatness come from? From where does greatness come? Mankind doesn’t understand this. Huuu. O Shah Mardan, may our hearts refresh. Ay Yaran Shah Mardan, even saying this gives happiness to our hearts. If one were given lands as far as India or China, would he be happy? He couldn’t put them in his pocket. He couldn’t swallow them. Why run after it? China, China is mine! India is mine, the west is mine, the east is mine! So, put it in your mouth and swallow it! Man is an exalted being. The robe of majesty is dressed on Shah Mardan. Huuu. Be a lion! Don’t be a fox, don’t be a mouse.
The holy month which Janabul Haqq adorned with blessings/abundance has come.
“Shahru ramadana alladhi unzila fihi alquranu” (2:185)
The holy month in which Quran Azimu Shan descended in its most blessed and sacred form. Shahru Ramadan, whoever reaches this month should observe a respect for it. He shouldn’t eat or drink. May he observe respect for this holy month. This holy month brings you honour. Try to receive its honour! It is not like the medal worn here. It is an honour granted by the heavens to the ummah of the Beloved one of Allah.
O Attendees, let us then Ay Yaran Shah Mardan, say, Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. Huuu. May we be filled with faith. May we be filled with wisdom. May we be filled with light. May we race for the grants of Rabbul Izzat which are beyond the treasures of the Earth and Heavens. May we run after Divine grants. We are ordered to fast in Ramadan. What is its purpose? Please Shah Mardan tell us, it is not a matter of not eating. It is about breaking the desires of the ego, about taking charge of the ego, about putting its arrogance under your feet. Everyone has this characteristic. Being like a fox, a dog or a hyena doesn’t benefit you.
Do you have the Light of Heavens? Watch out for this! Have you profited from that light? Please go on Shah Mardan, your friends admire you. O Shah Mardan. Let’s learn. You must get to know, satan doesn’t let people learn. He who doesn’t learn becomes a satan. That is why the world has become congested. The world is full of satans because everyone says, “I want, you want, others want too”, and they turned the world into a devil’s marketplace. Especially women, how much they love the world and its ornaments? And mindless men love to wear medals and smart outfits and delight in looking handsome. For whom will you look good? What will make you look good? What looks good in Divine Presence? Have you got Light? Say! Say it!
In this holy month the disciples of Prophet Isa asked for a table-spread from the Heavens. Perhaps they couldn’t find anything better to ask for. They asked for a table-spread from the great Prophet Isa, could he have one sent down? Is this a question to be asked? Is it? Our Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) recieved a ma’ida, a spiritual feast from the heavens, The Blessed Ramadan, “unzila fihi alquranu”. The Quran Azimu Shan descended for us and contained within it was the knowledge of everything. What a great honour for humanity! However most people choose to be like beasts rather than be spiritual. They are after material gain and deny their spiritual being. They are proud of the clothes they wear, not showing respect for the holy attire descending from the heavens.
What have we done? Ey, here is the Iftar table. Didn’t you have a dinner table before? You too, like the disciples of Prophet Isa are running after the dinner table? You are not given Holy Ramadan for setting up of tables and eating. There is no such order. Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar wa Lillahi l-hamd. During the other days you are not eating that. You wait for Ramadan in order to set up Ramadan tables, Iftar tables. Are you not yet satisfied with food? Bre, you are far from faith, just like unbelievers. Why do you desire and prepare Iftar tables? Give away in charity to the poor. Instead, ask for the light of the Quran Karim which descends from the Heavens.
Ay Yaran Shah Mardan, how beautifully he expresses it. The disciples of Prophet Isa, received a table spread. Now our people are busy preparing Iftar tables here and there. Were you hungry in the days before Ramadan? “No, this is a Ramadan table”. There are several foods on it. Only an ox and you are missing on the table. You are like an ox, when you sit there it is completed. Ramadan has not been sent just for preparing Iftar tables but satan is cheating and confusing peoples’ minds, depriving them of their humanity, making them like animals. “What are we going to eat? What a table! Wonderful table!” This is not Islam. This is not servitude to Allah!
Allah Dhul Jalal, did not order a banquet for Iftar or preparation of all kinds of foods, eating, drinking and getting happy with these, but He ordered feasting at a divine banquet descending from the Heavens, Quran Azimu Shan. “Shahru ramadana alladhi unzila fihi alquranu”. Are you receiving your share? Ay Yaran Shah Mardan, please go on, tell us! Let us tell, O friends of Shah Mardan! Let’s say, Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. Most don’t even recite the Basmala (at Iftar). Those who are reciting the Basmala, a wonderful ma’ida, table-spread is coming for them. Say Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar wa Lillahi l-hamd. O our Lord, all thanks to You!
O Shah Mardan, your friends admire you! He likes these words. If you owned the mountains and hills what benefit could they give you? Take them! There is India, there is China, there is Russia, there is the east and there is the west. What will we do? Eat! A world will be placed in front of them in the hereafter. They will be told to eat it. This is the world you loved so much, here, take it, eat! “I can’t eat it”. There is no other way, you have to eat. When you were in dunya, you asked for dunya. Eat, eat! You refused to be like the angels, but accepted to be like satan. When you were fasting you were cheated by your evil ego, and you attended Iftar banquets in order to gorge on food.
O our Lord, our Subhan! Please go on Shah Mardan! MashaAllah, how beautiful is your word! What an honour it is to listen to Shah Mardan! Be a lion, be a lion! There are big rats in the sewers eating muck continually. They are never full, -lup, lup, lup, lup. Those big rats, this is their way to get happy. How lovely this sewage is for us! O you, so-called Muslims, don’t imitate the rats running in the sewers, we call them sewer rats. Don’t be like them. The swift/swallow flies in the sky, Sheikh Mehmed Efendi. What does that poor one eat? There are tiny flies in the air, they eat these tiny flies and fly around like planes.
Eat little! Try to acquire the honour, and dress in that honour which is the substance of the Quran Karim. A Man is not defined by feasting on Iftar banquets. O our Lord, to show us these ways, we have Shah Mardan, let him advise us. May we open up and become refreshed. May we become enlightened, renounce the lust for dunya, become free from being like rats. O our Lord, our Allah Who is the Owner of the Earth and Heavens, You created this universe, You created this Adam. No one is considering this. No one is guiding about this. Only schooling in the preparation of the Iftar table. What is an Iftar table? Teach these children that Allah Dhul Jalal created the Earth and the Heavens and He created us to be His servants not to run after straw like animals, to enjoy it endlessly.
May Allah forgive us! O Shah Mardan your friends admire you! How pleasant is your assembly! May we gain strength and steadfastness from it, may faith come, may religion and faith come. “Shahru ramadana alladhi unzila fihi alquranu”. Allahu akbar. They say this one has a beautiful Quran recitation. It may be! But is this enough for you to benefit from? You must be a person who not only enjoys the sound of the beautiful Quran Karim recitation but be one who gets enlightened by the nur the Quran carries. Teach your children Who the Creator of the Earth is. Teach your children Who owns the Earth and Heavens.
They removed the old word maktab, using school/okul instead. They consider themselves clever! Those who are going to schools have become wild, they are destroying governments, causing troubles. Is it called the gathering of “Gezi”? (Gezi/trip) They are crowding for a “Gezi”. What is this “Gezi”? We never heard of it before this. The Gezi gathering/protest. What Gezi! They have already travelled all day. They say this is a different Gezi. This is unique. You will eat, drink, misbehave and then say that we made Gezi/went around all the big tables, boasting about it! Ya!
Please go on Shah Mardan, let’s understand. O Lion of Our Mawla, Shah Mardan, teach us! Ask for light, don’t ask for fire. May we ask for nur in Holy Ramadan. O Muslims don’t seek Iftar tables. Look for tables of Nur. Say O Gulen Hodja! Tell people what they should ask for, teach them to ask for a ma’ida coming from heavens, say this! Tell them not to fight! What are they fighting for? What is gained by fighting? Nothing. O our Lord, You are Subhan, You are Sultan. May we show our respect for the glory and honour of al-Habib al-Kibriya (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam), O Lord give us strength! Your friends admire you Shah Mardan! Fatiha.
Let’s say Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. If you aren’t full, come, and I will fill you up. Fatiha. May Allah accept it. The power of Mehmed Efendi is high, he is full. He doesn’t show it but he is on duty, day and night. Sometimes he appears angry. He has the power to burn the ones who get near him. He is one of the forty. This humble one doesn’t reveal himself. I like that he speaks beautifully, I feel happy with his recitation. No one can harm them. They can burn. They can burn. They can burn the weapons of unbelievers. He is a dragon. There are forty of them. Fatiha. Come my son, you stand on Qutbaniyyat. May Allah give you power, pray for me.
Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim
Sultan ul-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Al-Haqqani An-Naqshibandi (Qs), Sohbat of the 11th of July, Ramadan 2013.
As-salamu ‘aleykum, ayyuha l-hadirun. Come closer, seat yourself comfortably, be easy. Allah has commanded us to be at ease. Formality; He has not imposed formality on us, no. We are not animals. An animal carries its burden, but it is happy to do so. We are human beings; mankind has a special kind of honour. Man is not a beast. Man has honour.
Dastur, ey Shah-i Mardan. Ey Yaran Shah-i Mardan! How lovely you are! Be beautiful. When we can be beautiful, why should we be ugly? Allah has created us to be beautiful. He has not created us to be ugly. inna-llaha jamilun yuhibbu l-jamal – Allah is Beautiful and He loves beauty. Masha’Allah la quwwata illa bi-llah. There is no power but with Allah. qawwi dhafi fi ridak, O Lord, strengthen me in my weakness for Your Pleasure.
Marhaba. Ey Yaran Shah-i Mardan. A greeting comes to us, and we, too, give a greeting, to the Lovers of Shah-i Mardan, to his beloved friends. Mashā’Allahu kān, wa mā lam yashā’ lam yakūn. Welcome, O head of this gathering, travelers of the way, and people in general. Welcome! May you be happy and joyful. Thanks be to Allah. May our assembly here be blessed. May our assembly be the assembly of Shah-i Mardan. A pure assembly. Let us at least be listeners in the assembly of that Lion. Come to us, ey Shah-i Mardan. Come and speak to us. Awaken us, Wake us up. To awaken, that is Shah-i Mardan’s task, al-hamdulillah wa shukru-li-llah, wa salātu wa s-salām ‘ala Habībillah, Sayyidi l-awwalin wa l-akhirin.
Thanks to Allah. It has been granted to us once again to live to see this blessed month. We are in the blessed month of Ramadan. May our faces shine with light, may our hearts be filled with light. This is what our Lord Almighty wishes. Allah is Beautiful, inna-llaha jamilun yuhibbul jamal, Allah Almighty is the Master of Absolute Beauty. Allahu Dhu l-Jalal, He says: I love what is beautiful. He created everything in Beauty. Allah Almighty created us to be beautiful. He did not create us to be ugly. O our Lord, You who possess Absolute Glory and Sovereignty, the servants of such a glorious Lord cannot be contemptible. You must know this. Jalīl Allah, Jalla Jalāluhu.. The servants of Allah the Glorious, Subhānahu wa Ta‘āla, cannot be contemptible. He is such a Sultan that He does not dress His servants in contempt. God forbid! Impossible!
O our Lord. You have dressed us in the loveliest dress, for which even the noble angels envied us, but He told them, No! This robe of honour is not for you. I will dress you in another one. This one is My khalifa, My representative. Amān, ya Rabbi. What an honour! Then the angels fell silent. Come, O Shah-i Mardan, your words have power. The saints are dressed with the attribute of Shah-i Mardan, every saint possesses this attribute. Shaykh Mehmet Effendi, every saint must have some of Shah-i Mardan’s awe-inspiring quality. He cannot be piteous and detestable. Those servants who are spiritually linked to Shah-i Mardan can never be contemptible. Allah created the sons of Adam, and He did not make them despicable. Shaykh Mehmet Effendi, God forbid! Allah did not say: I created him to be pitiful and he is My representative, God forbid! masha’Allahu kān. Allah, Allah. What Allah has willed came to be. Would Allah say: This is My deputy, and I have made him despicable?
O ignorant people, you simply will not learn. Learn from Shah-i Mardan, what beautiful speech. Allahu Dhu l-Jalal says: wa la-qad karramna Bani Adama (17:70) The children of Adam have been given Divine Grace, He said. O our Lord, dress us too in that grace, said the angels. No. I have given it to them. Come, O Shah-i Mardan, the news you bring is exactly suitable for your beloved friends. Let us say: Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. If you forgot the Basmala, you have forgotten everything. If you forgot the Basmala, they also will forget you. When you speak the Basmala, they will not overlook you.
Come, O Shah-i Mardan, Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. O Lovers of Shah-i Mardan. He came with the Basmala, the source of adab. The face of one who says Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim will be beautiful, it cannot be ugly. Allah has not created the sons of Adam to be ugly, God forbid! Our Lord has not created the sons of Adam, whom He named as His deputy, to be ugly, God forbid! What makes us ugly, and what wishes to make us ugly is the evil devil. The evil devil and our own nafs are what make us ugly. O Lord, thanks be to You, praise and glory be to You for the Lights that descend in this blessed holy month of Ramadan. Let us love, O my listeners, O Lovers of Shah-i Mardan who are assembled here. Let us rejoice.
What do they say when looking into a mirror? Allahumma ahsanta khalqi fa ahsin khuluqi. How lovely You have created us. Look in the mirror and speak these words. How lovely You have made us to be, O our Lord. For the sake of the Beloved of Allah You have given us, You have dressed us with a drop from that Beauty Ocean, O my Lord. To reach that great honour, to give thanks, that is our duty, our very first duty. Look into the mirror, and say: al-hamdulillahi lladhi ahsana khalqi Praise and thanks to our Lord who has created us to be lovely. Praise Him. The Lord says, I will increase the blessing.
Come, O Shah-i Mardan. Speak of the enemy of man. When Allah Almighty raised and seated man upon the throne of grandeur, on the throne of majesty over all creation, shaytan flew into a rage. For shaytan harboured jealousy in his heart, it seems. He had maliciously tried to seat himself on that throne. When it was given to another, he rebelled against the Lord. Aman ya Rabbi. Make us not of those rebellious ones! He said, I was going to occupy that throne. I have filled all heavens and earths with my worship, and it was my wish to settle upon that throne of authority. Word went out to him: No, this is not for you. I have given to My deputy this robe of dignity and grandeur which is made of beauty from My Divine Beauty, majesty from My Divine Majesty, from My Divine Perfection and My Divine Glory and Honour. Him I have seated upon this throne; Man, the sacred human being.
Thanks be to our bountiful Lord who has made us to be of the sons of Adam who have been honoured. wa la-qad karramnā Banī Adama (17:70) The Sultan of Awliya, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi, Grandshaykh used to mention this verse in every assembly: wa la-qad karramna Bani Adama (17:70) For the sake of My illustrious Glory, I have placed mankind at such a high station as no other creature may ever reach. Thanks be to Allah. He does not give us weakness. Ey yaran Shah-i Mardan. O my beloved friends, O my companions! Mark my words. What we are given to say, what comes from above, it is from the words of Allah’s Beloved, from the word of authority of him whom Allah created as the Prince of Creation. He was given the ability of addressing people, our noble Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam). He was seated upon the throne, Haji Mehmet.
Abu Bakr, you don’t know him, you never knew him. Did you? The daughter of Abu Bakr, she had a child. He sat like this, in the assembly. This is a story. But I, we saw this. There were flies. This child, maybe he was a little stupid, or simple? He was a slow child. There were flies buzzing all around. His mother said to him, Drive them away. Wave your hand to drive the flies away. The child went like this. He wouldn’t raise his hand any higher, only up to here. Like a fool, a simpleton. Allah has not created us to be fools. God forbid! God forbid! Man is not stupid. He is not a fool. He does not go about aimlessly, nor is he shameless. Man is the Sultan of that throne. Man is decorated with the rank of authority conferred upon him by the Lord of Might and Glory.
Know yourself, O mankind. If you know who you are, you will have adab. It is when you do not know yourself, that you lose your adab. Come, O Shah-i Mardan. The human being, Allahu akbar. khalaqa l-insan; ‘allamahu l-bayan. (55:3,4) Is it not so, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi? ar-Rahman. khalaqa l-insan; ‘allamahu l-bayan. (55:3,4) Shah-i Mardan, the Prophet’s inheritor, who was given of this knowledge, the legacy of the father of the Prophet of the Last Times, Sayyidna ‘Ali, Shah-i Mardan, it was given to him. Addabanī Rabbī, said the Prophet, ‘alayhi ssalatu wa s-salam. My Lord has taught me adab. Who is there? Who could be more advanced in adab than he?
Who makes man to be lacking in adab? It is shaytan. Shaytan tries by all his means to separate people from the honour of humankind. Even now, and up to the Day of Judgement, shaytan is working to take away men’s honour. You cannot take it, He(swt) says. What We have given, you cannot take away. He makes them act as he wants. If the Sultan’s son behaves in an unruly manner, nobody can interfere. He is the son of the Sultan. Everybody says, He is the Sultan’s son, we won’t get mixed up in this. Being the Sultan’s son is one thing, but to be the servant of the Lord of Glory is another.
Look into the mirror. You should see the Light on your face. If you are not blind, you must see it. Allah, Subhānahu wa Ta‘āla has given Light to every human being. Ya Rabbi. Do not leave us without Light, O Lord. For the sake of this holy month, O my Lord. Send us, O my Lord, a Sultan who will bring down shaytan’s number to zero, so that we might walk in Your way. O my Lord, increase our love and longing, so that we might know what we must do. Nowadays mankind does not know what it must do. People think that they are in this world in order to kill each other. My throne is higher than yours, yes, or my country is bigger than yours, or it should be larger. These are the worthless aims they are pursuing. Whereas compared with the Divine blessings, which Allah Dhu l-Jalal has bestowed upon us, what is this world? It is rubbish.
O our Lord, our Lord who makes us speak. Ey Shah-i Mardan. Come to us, O Lion of lions. Send us one of your pure descendants to teach and to train us, so that mankind might be disciplined and trained. Otherwise, He(swt) says, I will make them fall upon each other and attack each other. If man does not realize the potential of mankind, I will destroy the dominion of man; I will let it be destroyed, He says from on high. Man must know what the human being is worth. What is the value of Man? When man does not realize what it is to be human, he falls down to below the level of four-footed beasts. Whereas Allah, Jalla Jalāluhu, granted us Divine gifts and glories, you go ahead and slaughter men, you beat and destroy them. For the possession of land you cause pandemonium to break loose. You have no humanity, if we may say so. Therefore, the world has lost all its adab; they crush one another. Adab has been lifted from us and calamity has landed instead. May Allah keep this far from us.
Let us say: Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. The throne of the great prophet-king Sulayman had the noble Basmala written upon it. A throne of gold. You did not see this, Mehmet, there was this ‘Ayn ul-Fija, far away, but then you were not yet born, in Sham. Water gushed forth from there, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi, for a distance from here to the upper mosque, such water sprang from there. The people of Sham used to say, this spring, the water springing forth from here, is the water of the Queen of Sheba. Allahu Akbar. The Queen of Sheba, the Prophet Sulayman asked, Who is this? They said, it is she, the Queen of Sheba. Water flowed from below her. You have not seen this, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi. From here as far as the upper mosque, water gushed out, like this. Now they have shut that off as well. Allahu Akbar ‘ala man takabbara wa tajabbar..
The arrogant tyrants have it coming. Those who do not know the value of man to whom Allah has given greatness, who do wrong and oppress men, they will be punished. In this world they will meet their punishment, and in the hereafter their place will be in the fires of Jahim. Aman ya Rabbi. Be mindful of justice. Come, O Shah-i Mardan. Kun adilan, wa la takun zaliman. Be just, do not be unjust. I am not an unjust oppressor, says Allah Almighty. I have restrained Myself from injustice. fa la tazalamu – so do not, you, act unjustly. This news, has the Muslim world not heard it? Has it not heard of this? I am not a tyrant. Injustice does not please Me, says Allah Almighty. I will speak up for the rights of the oppressed. I will crush, I will crush the tyrants, He says. Allah Almighty’s order from above. This is Shah-i Mardan’s address. I will crush them, He says, I will leave none of the oppressors. I will not leave innocent victims to cry. I will exact My revenge on the tyrants, I will crush them.
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar innahu min Sulaymana wa innahu Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. (27:30) Speak this and rub it over yourself seven times, Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim, and all your pains will be gone. No grief or anxiety will remain. No want or neediness will remain, O my Lord. Give us strength, we are so weak. We haven’t even the strength of an ant. The ant, when it warned its fellow ants – qalat namlatun, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi. ya ayyuha n-namlu udkhulū masākinakum (27.18) O you ants, said the leader of the ants, enter your dwellings! This is an order, do not come out! Do not come out! la-yahtimannakum Sulaymānu wa junūduhu. (27:18) So that the armies of the prophet Suleyman will not crush you. Go into your nests. You are not ordered to come out into the streets. The order is for you to stay at home, to remain in your houses. In times of fitna, do not go out.
When we were very young, Haji Mehmet, I was very young then. There was a preacher, an old preacher who spoke very nicely. “I look forward to the afterlife”, Allah, Allah, he used to say that. He would say: You must not stick your head out of your house. Whoever sticks out his head and then wants to pull it back in, horns will have grown on his head, he said. He can’t get it back into the house. Do not leave your house. Allahu Akbar. O you women, wa qarna fi buyūtikunna. (33:33) What kind of Muslims are you? You fill the streets. Have you no shame? No chastity, no good name? Do you have no honour? No virtue, no chastity? Where do you stand?
O Shah-i Mardan, the world will collapse from your majesty. We will show you, he says, our dignity will show you. They think it is easy to live as a Muslim. We will destroy the Muslims, with guns and cannons. You will see how you yourselves will be destroyed by cannons and guns! May Allah make us of the junūdullah, the Lord’s armies, my son. Let us be among the fighters of Allah. O our Lord, we are at Your service, we should say. To serve the dunya is worth nothing at all. It is rubbish. innahu min Sulaymana wa innahu Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim (27:30) Vroom, it fell down, the palace of Balqis.
So there was this spring, at Fija, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi, it flowed over a stretch of about 100m, water welling up from below like this. There was a building of old stone there too. The people of Sham used to say, This water which springs from below Bilqis’ throne gives Sham its blessed abundance. No other place is as blessed as Sham, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi. innahu min Sulaymana wa innahu Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. (27:30) There are forty holy saints there, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi. If one of them were to let out a shout, Sham in its entirety would collapse. What is this rubbish of theirs?
Come, O Shah-i Mardan, let us be revived in faith, may the blessing of this holy month descend on us. Show them what lies hidden within Islam! What the Muslims have in store – let us see and know it. Let us live within Islam. Let us live as servants of our Lord. Let us have no other worry than that. O our Lord, all we care for is to be Your servants. It does not matter if our house, our land, is burnt or destroyed. The only important thing is that they do not destroy the faith in our hearts. That they cannot destroy. This is what Grandshaykh told me: Sham will be destroyed, it will be destroyed. However, in one night all the rubble will be taken away and thrown in the sea. On the second night, instead of the Sham they destroyed, a new, identical Sham will be built up by troops of Jinn. Long may he live, kiss your master’s hand. Kiss your master’s hand.
I wish for the blessed Sham. It will be the same as before, a new one will be built, he says. Thanks be to Allah, what a blessing to give thanks. Anta l-Qawiy, Anta l-Qadiru l-Muqtadir, ya Rabbi. la taqnatu min rahmati-llah. Those tyrants will all go away. That water will be seen again, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi. What sweet water, once I saw it, below some old stone buildings. In the old days the water gushed up from underneath them. From here maybe for 50 metres the water bubbled up from below. The people of Sham said that this water comes from underneath the royal palace of Bilqis. Yes, indeed, it comes to Sham and makes it so blessed and fruitful. Such a blessed place is the much-honoured Sham.
Ah, Sham-i sharif, aah, Sham-i sharif. Because of our injustice this punishment has come upon it. They followed the latest fashion, the latest fashion. The ladies of Sham – we will make the girls into soldiers, so they made soldiers of them. They left no religion, no faith, no chastity. But vengeance will overcome all of them. I will not let them be, speaks the Lord Almighty Allah, Allah. Allah Allah Allah. Subhansın, ya Rabbi. Sultansın. He will let them suffer the same and even more than that. Not one of the cruel and unjust ones will be left in Sham. May Allah save us from being cruel and unjust.
What a sense of ease I am feeling, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi. He also loves Sham more than any other place, my son loves it; my other son also, may Allah protect him and give him life. Both of them are of the generals of Sham, I am informed. They are viziers to the rest, as well as generals. They belong to those who support Sham, they bear great weight. Kiss his hand. Ruqiya resembles him a lot. She is severe. This one, and that one, too. Bahauddin is not like that. Bahauddin and Naziha, they are not so much like that. Especially Bahauddin, not at all. But this one has that quality of wrath, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi. And in that one also.
O my God, let us see those good days. Allah Almighty has said, I will take My revenge on the tyrants He will send it, He will cleanse that place. Who wishes for the old Sham, the old Sham will be rebuilt in one night. In one night all the concrete will be dumped in the sea. Would that I could see it in those days, jāmi‘u l-Mahdi, maqamu ‘Isa. That place has so much blessing. I wish they would lay me to rest there by the feet of my Shaykh..
