The following is an excerpt from the sohbat, ‘According To What You Ask For’ by Sultan ul-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Al-Haqqani An-Naqshibandi (Qs).
Man will really be condemned to suffer the punishment of his heedlessness as long as he is heedless.
Without a doubt, after so many years passing, of course the condition of Muslims has become that of those who are sunk in heedlessness. Man will really be condemned to suffer the punishment of his heedlessness as long as he is heedless. Meaning, the excuse saying, “We were heedless,” will not be accepted for someone who reaches the Divine Presence. Why did you not open your eyes? Did I leave you blind when We gave you the light of faith? Blind is the one who has no light of faith. So that, asta’idhu billah, “Waman kana fee hathihi a’ma fahuwa fil akhirati a’ma” (17:72) says Allah Almighty. He who is blind in this world will be blind in the next world too. This does not mean someone who is blind in his (physical) eyes, will stay blind just as he was blind in this world. Hasha. Maybe Allah Almighty says, He says He will award and grant mercy that He does not show to other servants, to those He has deprived from the light of the two eyes. And He will open their eyes to watch His Beauty, with a first view that is special for them.
All right, but what is the intention there? So that in this world, but also in the hereafter. But its meaning is that the one who has left the heart’s eye in the world, someone who has not opened the heart’s eye with the light of faith. That one he comes like that at Resurrection “Did I not give you the light of faith? Why were you heedless when you were in the world? Why did you not open your eyes? Why are you saying, “I was really heedless”? When I gave you the light of faith. The ones I did not give are different, I gave to you. Why did you become really heedless?” Because 1407 years have passed since, people are tired of moving from taqlid (imitation) to tahqiq (investigation), to haqiqat (truth). And they left that way. Even though Allah Almighty’s order is not to get stuck in imitation, to try and reach truth. Yes.
The Prophet, alaihi s-salatu wa s-salam, said, “If a person does not know himself, he does not know his Lord.”
Why did we come to the world? If it is to eat, drink, and multiply, then animals are also doing it. They don’t do anything else. If you spend your time doing that, you should know your level, your place then. Your place is also that. On the Day of Judgement they will say, “Take this one to the barn too.” Is it not so? This one did not do anything else. This one has no place on this side. Tie them up and pull them to the barn. Meaning – “if this is the aim behind the earthly life in this world what was the use of the mind We gave you? So you never used your mind.” And Allah Almighty says He honored you by clothing you in one of His attributes. And we made you mukarram, We were overly generous with you. So you made Our generosity like dirt. You made it nothing, then your place is the barn. They will say, “Pull, tie, pull that one.” His human form will also be removed. Whichever animal that one represents, every human’s ego represents an animal, that animal’s attribute will overcome and will appear in that form. They will be tied and pulled. He takes them there.
Allah Almighty sent Prophets to teach people human perfection. So that they may know their place. “O Mankind, there are so many of My creatures in this world who are living with you. You could not distinguish your place from amongst other creatures? Then be resurrected along with them.” He will collect them there. The ones who come to this world and do not know the reality of this world is heedless. A human who does not know himself is ignorant. The one who is not aware of his place in this world is both heedless and ignorant. You have to know your place. So there, the human who does not look at reality and does not know truth cannot determine his own place either. When does he determine his own place? When he knows truth. Yes. People do everything, run around everywhere. Everything that takes place around them concerns them and by collecting information about everything they are concerned with and trying to make use of everything, they are trying to satisfy their own egos. Man will not be able to find truth if he does not leave what is around him and turn back to himself. Well, when we are always concerned with what is outside we lose turning inward, staying by ourselves, and knowing ourselves. The Prophet, alaihi s-salatu wa s-salam, said, “If a person does not know himself, he does not know his Lord.” The way to know Allah Almighty goes through you. As long as you know yourself you will find the way to know Allah Almighty. Otherwise, it is impossible for a man who does not know himself to know the One who created him.
Allah Almighty does not withhold but he observes your sincerity and Ikhlas.
As you see, the Seal of prophets, our Master, alaihi s-salatu wa s-salam, came with the fullest marifat (enlightenment) with his perfection, our Master brought what was given by Allah Almighty to His servants regarding Allah’s marifat/ spiritual knowledge. And according to what you ask, you are given from that perfection. Now, there are motors that run putt-putt-putt-putt. Petrol as little as my beard hair is enough for its motor. It will make it run. But there are huge vehicles with 18, 28, and 40 wheels. This little bit (of petrol) will not affect it in any way. You have to open for it like you open the kitchen faucet at home, so it runs. You are given according to your size. From the Prophet, alaihi s-salatus-salam, there is a source perfection enough to feed all his ummat (nation) from his heart – S.Muhammad’s heart to the awliya.
There is a large center, the main center for electricity. Then there are transformer stations in every area. They are filled from the main center. From there the power is distributed to light that neighborhood, to serve that neighborhood. But there are reservoirs to store the force given from him too. Now, from the Prophet’s, alaihi s-salatu wa s-salam, pure heart, S. Muhammad’s pure heart, the inayat (care) for the awliya is stored there – from Allah Almighty to S. Muhammad’s pure heart. Then it is transferred to the hearts of awliya, from East to West in every century. They open to the ones who ask according to their request and according to their need. He sends that power source to them. It is given according to their request. More than the request is not given. However much you want, no limits. There is no limit to a servant’s request. There is no limit to Allah Almighty’s giving.
There is no end to Allah Almighty’s treasures. The person who says, “I asked but did not receive,” lies. Allah Almighty did not find in you sincerity, did not find in you Ikhlas, so He did not give you. That is the wisdom behind His denial. You will not be able to be a possessor because you will not know its value. You do not have sincere trueness and perfection. Therefore, He is not giving it to you. The wisdom behind it: even though a small child shouts and cries for the valuable ring on her mother’s hand, or the gem on her neck, should the mother give it to the little girl? She is an idiot if she does. The child wants it but she (Mother) does not give even though she wants. So, what if she gives it. Would her mother withhold it from her? She (the child) would not keep it, she will not be able to hold it. If she gives her a red candy, she will take it off her neck. Even if it is the world’s most valuable jewel, in that child’s sight red candy is more valuable than red ruby. Ruby does not taste good in the mouth, but with candy she is relaxed. You are like that as well.
Like this, Allah Almighty does not withhold but he observes your sincerity and Ikhlas. He gives it to the one who can take care of it. Why would He give if one cannot take care? In that case He starts unveiling those treasures veil by veil, when there are seven breaths left before the last breath. When will it be entrusted to you? When there are seven breaths left before a person leaves the world. Haji Ali Efendi, if you bring the world’s most beautiful girl or woman and sit her there (next to the dying), is there any movement? Any movement? Is there? The end.
Now there is trust in that man.
We have reached the most difficult period of time. Some things came to me, so I may speak about them. They are like this. And we are living in the most difficult times for Islam. But Allah Almighty wants us to renew our oath with Him (SubhanaHu wa Ta’ala). With Him (SubhanaHu wa Ta’ala) means with His Beloved (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam). Until they renew their oath with Rasulullah, there is no hope for them. This is the first point for the Muslim world to be aware of & to apply. They must declare that “we are from the nation of the Beloved, and not Syrian, Lebanese, Iraqi Palestinian, Egyptian.” Our honour is that we are part of the ummat of the Beloved (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam) of Allah (SubhanaHu wa Ta’ala). Till they recognize this there is no way out for them.
Allah (swt) says “and do not display yourselves like in the former times of ignorance” (33:33) This indicates that it is a passed period of time the first period of ignorance, but they will be under another period of ignorance. Wa La Tabarraju/and do not display yourselves, has a deep meaning. “Tabarruja Al-Jahiliyati Al-Ula”(33:33) Subahana Allah. Allah (swt) through His Beloved (saws) said that it is not appropriate to show off whether they are Egyptians, Saudis, Iraqi, Libyan. It is refused. That first period of ignorance every person was proud of themselves and their connections. The highest level of display of pride is to say “I am from the nation of the Beloved (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam)” Ya Rasulullah! Listen & take wisdom if you do, it will benefit you. There is no one who listens. There is no one left to listen to his words & orders. And many events took place. Subhana Allah!
Then after the first period of ignorance, it means that a second period of ignorance will come, and this is where we are now. It will be taken away. This second period of ignorance will also be taken away with a very strong power, from the Power of Prophethood Sahib Al Zaman al-Mahdi (as) Khalifa of Allah (swt) on the face of the earth. If he kicked this world with his foot it would go out of its orbit. That’s how great it is. Everything has an appointed time. They have been given a chance.
The most evil thing worshipped is the desire of the ego. People have followed their ego, “if you see people following their egos and obeying it and every person only likes his own opinion, keep yourself.” (Hadith) Subhana Allah. These are things that came to my heart by inspiration, or other means. It indicates the spread of corruption in the world. Allahu Akbar! But this situation has to end, because of the good tidings the Prophet (swas) gave. When he was asked “who will be in charge after you O Rasulullah?” he (saws) said “The Khalifas, Al Rashidin, Al Murshidin.” “And after them O Rasulullah?” “Princes, Amir Al Mu’minin.” “Then who will take care of the Ummah?” “The Kings will rule it, these ones who place above their heads the Holy Quran and they glorify the sunnah of Rasulullah and the book of Allah (awj), these are the Kings.” He is not a King, the one who is not master of himself. Astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah! “And after the Kings, it will be the last hour?” “After the kings, will come tyrants.” The time of tyrants, we are in it now. And it cannot be described what happened among the ummah from the injustice & oppression. “Wa Ahsinu Inna Allaha Yuhibbu Al-Muhsinina” (2:195) They closed, they blocked.

Asta’idhu billah, “wa khuliqal insanu da’ifan”(4:28) SubhanAllah. The nature of a person is weak. What can we do? We can’t do anything. We are in need of Divine help. We are in need of the help of our Lord. The Master of the Universe (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) represents the help of our Lord. Respect him. Don’t fear. Don’t respect other than him. They will ruin you. Respect our Master, alaihi s-salatu wa s-salam.
It will open. We will open in this holy month. Master of the Universe, I can’t do anything. May Allah forgive me. May He forgive you too. Let’s say Hu, Hu. Fatiha.
You can’t describe the oceans of oceans with a dot. We can give as much as is given. We can understand as much as we can. We can teach as much as we can teach. We can learn as much as we are able. And we leave what we can’t learn.
O our Rich Padishah, our Lord, our Lord, we love You. We don’t want weakness, we don’t want to be weak. I want to be strong. We don’t want to be like helpless animals on Your way. What we want is… Who is at the door of Rabb-ul Izzet cannot be helpless, cannot be mean; he is full of the bliss of love.
O my Lord, tawba ya Rabbi, tawba ya Rabbi, tawba astaghfirullah. Fatiha. He is Allah. We can’t compete. Take these away.

O our Lord, our Subhan, our Sultan. You created us the way You wanted. Ay Yaran Shah Mardan. Listen to the holy words of Shah Mardan and you will become beautiful. You will become more beautiful and mighty. You will be dressed with more beauty from your Creator. O people, search for beauty. Don’t run after ugliness. These are a few words from Shah Mardan. Don’t run after ugliness. Run after beauty, because your Creator created you beautiful. In order to see that beauty, in order to dress you with that beauty, in order to make you carry the honor of that beauty, your Creator granted you this (beauty). He said – I want them to be My deputies. If there were millions of satans, they could not take away the beauty given to mankind. But the people of this time want to take away that beauty from each other. The One who gave (beauty) is the Creator. He gave that beauty to mankind. Try to protect that beauty.
Ay Yaran Shah Mardan. Run after beauty. Your Lord is the Most Beautiful of beautiful ones, our Lord. You dressed us with beauty. There is no power that can take that beauty away from us. Say “Subhan Allah” and be dressed with beauty. Say “wal hamdu lillah” and be dressed with beauty. Say “wa la ilaha illa Allahu wAllahu akbar” so you can be dressed with the dress of majesty and beauty. Be human, O mankind. Yaran, the lovers of Shah Mardan. Let’s cheer up and glorify our Lord. Let’s praise our Lord. He created us. He dressed us with such a dress of beauty that millions of satans can’t take that beauty away from us. Then let’s say – Bismillahi r- Rahmani r-Rahim.

Please go on O friend, Shah-i Mardan! Please come and listen to this, O beloved friends of Shahi Mardan! If you should lose the whole world, don’t despair! Don’t say, I have lost something. What you lost is the evil world. Janab Allah didn’t create you for this evil world, so why fall in despair? No, He created you for His service. For His service. Allahu Dhu l-Jalal, likes His servants to turn to Him. My servant turns to, and he says, “Allahu Akbar”. He salutes My Bayt Muazzama. This salutation is to Me. MashaAllah. As a response to this, wa li ‘abdin ma sa’al. Our Lord says, whatever My servant asks. “O those who ask for other than Me, they are heedless ones. They are not good.” Be in My Presence, be at My door! Ask from Me, O people! Your Lord Who created you, Who loves you, wants you to turn to Him. He wants you to turn towards His Bayt, and wants you to prostrate, to make sajda.
He wants your servanthood. Nothing else does He want. What a shame! “Ey, I wonder if – shall I buy this house, or shall I buy this estate if I carry on this work”. Don’t occupy yourself with any other business, don’t! We shouldn’t have any other business. We don’t have business other than servanthood to our Lord. May our hearts open up! Our Lord loves us. May we rejoice in His service. Please go on Shah-i Mardan. Your friends admire you. Satan is deceiving people with this evil world. It always deceives people with this evil world.
No! Observe your honourable service. The honour of man lies in service to Allahu Dhu l-Jalal, Who created him. Don’t strive for anything else! Don’t strive for anything else! “Salamun qawlan min Rabbin rahim” (36:58) Allah. Salams from our Lord. What shall we ask for? What else shall we ask for? “Salamun qawlan min Rabbin rahim”. Whose rahmat (blessings) is endless. His oceans of blessings have no limits, Allah Dhu l-Jalal is giving us salams! What do you want O ignorant people? Salamun qawlan min Rabbin rahim, His blessings are endless, unlimited. May there be salam (peace) upon you from Your Lord, salamun qawlan min Rabbin rahim.
What a great honour! Run after this! Then your problems will be gone, your pain and grief will be lifted. Go after the yaran, Ay yaran Shah-i Mardan. May you smile!
