Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim
MARTYRDOM IS THE HIGHEST OF RANKS
Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:
كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ
(Qur’ān 29:57). ‘Kullu Nafsin Dhā’iqatu Al-Mawti ۖ Thumma ‘Ilaynā Turja`ūn’, ‘Every soul will taste death. Then to Us will you be returned.’ Sadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.
Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla says everyone will die. There is no one who will remain alive in this world. Everyone’s end is death. Therefore, Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla measured a lifetime for everyone. People will live as long as their lifetime is assigned. When that time comes, some reason will occur. And because of that reason they will leave this world and go to Akhirah, to the real world. Just like they say that as you age, you are closer to it. Death is certain for everyone. And then there is the reckoning, there is Qiyamah, there is paradise and hell.
Death is difficult, but it is more difficult for Kafirs. It is easier for Mu’mins. And the easiest one, as our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam said, is to become a Shaheed. When you are Shaheed, that is the easiest death. It is as a pinprick. Shaheeds say, “If we came back a hundred times and became Shaheed, we’d still want it”.
Allah ﷻ made the rank of Shaheeds the highest. Their states are beautiful states. All people who come here wish for the rank of Shaheeds, to become Shaheeds. We must be Shaheeds on the way of Allah ﷻ, on the way of Islam insha’Allah. When you become Shaheed against Kafirs, Kafirs may be happy as much as they want, Muslims are tho ones to be really happy. Muslims who are Shaheed are the ones to be happy, because Allah ﷻ has granted them Shahadah (martyrdom). And the best death is theirs. May Allah ﷻ increase their Maqams.
Shaheeds make intercession not only to themselves, but also to their families on Judgment Day. Apart from Judgment Day, Allah ﷻ is merciful to people for their Barakah in this world as well. They have left families and children behind them. Allah ﷻ is their guarantor. There are some people who say “Why do we have to do this?” Allah ﷻ has written it this way. This is what Allah ﷻ has appointed. You cannot object against it. You cannot object against the ruling and the word of Allah ﷻ. May Allah ﷻ let us all get from their Barakah and their intercession. May their ranks be high.
Our Holy Prophet’s ﷺ Ahlu l-Bayt, Sahabah and grandchildren were Shaheeds. Therefore, to be Shaheed is not a bad thing. Some people are happy for killing others. You didn’t kill them, they became Shaheed. Their ranks are high. There are thousands, ten thousands of children, women, men, young and old; all of them are attaining the rank of Shaheeds. They think they are doing harm to them, whereas Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla is writing endless Thawab and rewards from His ﷻ grace, kindness and beneficence. They are the closest people to Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla. May Allah ﷻ be merciful to us for their Barakah as well. May He ﷻ give power to Islam. May whatever Kafirs want not happen insha’Allah. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
