When S. Hasanu-l Basri was asked by a murid, why the sohbat of that day was not as powerful as usual, he answered, because the Sultan was not there – “Rabiatu-l Adawiyah”. Those people shouting and fighting in the streets of Egypt, what are they asking and whom are they asking? If you ask, know what to ask for and whom to ask it from. Know that each gets according to his level and capacity. Mawlana said that Sheikh Mehmet is not only his Khalifa but the khalifa of Grandsheikh too.

Go ahead O Shahi Mardan. Let us listen – let us listen to Shahi Mardan, O yaran of Shah Mardan. Let us listen. Allahu Akbar. There is so much (to listen to)! May our assembly be an assembly of irfan/knowledge. May our assembly be an assembly of muhabba/love. May our assembly be an assembly of adab. May our assembly be an assembly of Nur. May our assembly be an assembly of irfan. A person who is deprived of these is an animal.
Come in, O yaran of Shahi Mardan. It is the assembly of men-their assembly is not an assembly of children. For this, all mashayikh say “Tariqatuna as-sohba”. Our way is the way of association. “Wa l-khayru fi l-jami’a”, and goodness is in the gathering. Who should you gather with? Who is together with donkeys is donkey. Who is together with arif/knowledgeable ones is knowledgeable. Who is together with slaves is a slave. Who is with Sultans is a Sultan. Masha Allah! Alhimna Rushdana Ya Rabbana.
The key to the treasures of earths & Heavens is Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. The key to the Eight Paradises is Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim.
Let us say- go ahead O Shahi Mardan- Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. It is the key that opens the doors of all goodness. The key to the treasures of earths & Heavens is Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. The key to the Eight Paradises is Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. I take pride in it. Who remembers His Majestic Name becomes aziz/strong. For this, let us say Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. Stand majestically! O holy Shahi Mardan, how beautifully is he saying- stand majestically after you recite the Bismillah. Allahu Akbar. The seal of Solomon is different and the seal of Heavens is different. Alhimna Rushdana- May he inspire in us the most honoured of the ways. He speaks and we listen, slowly. What can we do? They give us according to our capacity, according to our understanding, according to our comprehension. You can’t give the amount an elephant eats to an ant. You should give an elephant accordingly. An ant receives its share according to its capacity.
Let us say Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. Go ahead O Shahi Mardan. Your yaran admire your knowledge/’ilm. Allah Almighty dressed Shahi Mardan with the dress of majesty. Be near to him so that something from that honour may reach you also. The honour of a person, S. Mehmet Effendi, is like the person with whom he spends most of his time. A laborer, a worker- if you hang out with him your level is the same as his level. He can’t lift you higher. Go ahead O Shahi Mardan. Masha’Allahu Kan wa ma lam yasha’ lam ya’kun. O Shahi Mardan, go ahead. Hasan Al-Basri, may Allah sanctify his secret, would advise, would give sohba. Shaykh Mehmet Effendi, one day he made a sohba – Hasan Al-Basri Hz- stealing something from here, something from there, like me and closed the sohba, ended the assembly like this. “O holy one” they said, “the spiritual table you offered us was very poor”. And what did he say? “There was a Sultan here. She wasn’t in attendance this time so we treated you like this”. Who he called Sultan was Rabiatu-l Adawiyah, may Allah sanctify her secret.
O holy servant- Rabiatu-l Adawiyah Hz who is our Sultan. O holy one! You weren’t born at that time, none of you were born when I went to Al-Quds Al-Sharif with your mother, who has passed. They showed us her khalwathana (where she went into seclusion). It was under the ground, they said “this is the khalwathana of Rabiatu-l Adawiyah Hz”. O holy Sultan! May you give us also imdad/support. O yaran Shahi Mardan- the happy ones who have found the beautiful people, who have found the people who have adab and khair/goodness. If you want to be from the happy ones also, be with the happy ones- “Al-mar’u ma’ man ahabb”. Man is with the one who he loves. He runs away from who he doesn’t love. He wants the one he loves. Allah… Go ahead O Shahi Mardan. Your words are exactly like jewels. O jivan, the jivan of Paradise. He is a lion, our Shahi Mardan. Don’t speak earthly things.
The Prophets’ recitation of the Bismillah is different, the awliya’s is different and the Sultan of the Prophet’s (ﷺ) is different.
Sit & say Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. If the other one also says Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim, the honour reaches you. This is the honour, of the Bismillah. The Prophets’ recitation of the Bismillah is different, the awliya’s is different and the Sultan of the Prophet’s (ﷺ) is different. Allah Allah Allahu Rabbi Allahu Allah Allahu Hasbi. If Allah does not reach a person, who else is there that can reach him? AstaghfiruLlah, AstaghfiruLlah. Our Almighty Lord dressed His Habib(ﷺ) from His Own Attribute (jj). Be with him. He didn’t cry nor did he laugh- the Prophet (ﷺ), wasn’t he like this? He didn’t cry, nor did he laugh. Kamal (Perfection)- He (ﷺ) is the Sultan who was dressed from the attribute of Rabbu-l Izzat’s Dhat (Essence). Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Allahu Rabbi, Allahu Hasbi. Ya Rabbi, we said Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. May our assembly open.
Once you open it with the Bismillah & enter through the door with the Bismillah, you never feel pressured. Why should you? How can a person who says the Bismillah feel pressured? But who went astray & goes after the dirty ego cannot understand this. Say Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. My son, my offspring, my caliph… This son of mine who is not only my caliph but the caliphate of the Grandshaykh recites Al-Fatiha Al-Sharifa in one breath. I couldn’t recite it in one breath but I like that he recited it this way. In one place Jibril Al-Amin made him stop- our Prophet (ﷺ), on their journey through the Heavens. Jibril Al-Amin came & there was a magnificent door. Our Prophet (ﷺ) asked, “What is there beyond this?”, to teach us. “If this opens, you may see it O Habib!” O Habib! O glorious Prophet! “I want it” he said, “what is beyond this?” “Open the door & you may see it”. “Where is its key? “It is with you” said Jibril. “What is it?” “May you go ahead & say Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim”. When he said Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim that door, such a magnificence that is impossible to define or illustrate, opened & he looked inside. There was a magnificent world inside.
This point is important. There was such a magnificent world that it was never seen before. Four rivers run there- four rivers run in it: pure milk, pure water, pure honey and pure wine. 4 rivers run. “Who will drink from this? Let me drink” he (ﷺ) said. “O Habib! Who recites Fatiha Ash-Sharif in one breath may drink from this” and our Prophet (ﷺ) recited. O Shahi Mardan! For this I am very happy for this son of mine, that he is who awliya love. He recited Fatiha Ash-Sharif beautifully in the tarawih prayer and this inspiration reached me: He will drink from that river & gaze through that door.
Rabi’atu-l Adawiyah, may Allah sanctify her secret. May our troubles be lifted off us with her barakah.
Shaykh Mehmet Effendi, a question? Does the Sultan cry, Mehmet? The Sultan does not cry. But there are many who cry for the sultanate of dunya. We don’t want the sultanate of dunya. Who is a Sultan of akhirah does not cry. He is a lion! For what should he cry? O mankind! You are granted such a power, such an honour. For what? (They said) “Your assembly was very light (in content) O Hasan Al-Basri”. “Because here there is usually one who eats bites like a lion. She is not present today so I spoke about things for ants”. The power. Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. Rabi’atu-l Adawiyah, may Allah sanctify her secret. May our troubles be lifted off us with her barakah. Does a Sultan cry? Hasha! How should a Sultan cry? Does a Sultan cry? This is the question. Sultan does not cry! He is a Sultan! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar. Huwa adhaka wa abka. Allah makes who He likes to laugh (be happy) & who He likes to cry. That (crying) is the attribute of a servant, not the attribute of a Sultan. Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Who is the Sultan? Go ahead O Shah Mardan. Sultan is who is not in need of anyone. Allah Almighty dresses us with such an attribute that whole creation looks at us & trembles with the majesty that is with us- (which is because of) the Sultan of the Prophets, the Beloved of Allah. When they look through his mirror, they get astonished.
Allahu Akbar. O scholars, where are you? He said “Who recites it (Fatiha) in one breath will drink from those 4 rivers”. I got very happy, this muhataram/ respectable son of mine- Shaykh Mehmet Effendi – recites it in one breath in the tarawih prayer. I have reached this age & still couldn’t manage it- couldn’t manage to recite the Fatiha in one breath. I got very happy. He recited it very beautifully, without getting tired. Insha Allah this son of mine also continues in that way. What is it that the Sultan granted? What did He (swt) present to the servants He loves? Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim, for the servants He loves. Who He doesn’t love doesn’t say it, can’t say it. Allahu Allah, Allahu Rabbi Allahu Allah, Allahu Hasbi. How beautiful O Shah Mardan, your yaran admire you. These are the sohbats of these holy ones, of Shahi Mardan-the lion of Allah. If he likes, he can shake the world like this.
The people of this time cannot appreciate the spiritual power. They don’t even show any interest in it. All they think about is to carry, to load up the filth of this trashy dunya and fill their bags with it. And then inside their graves they will be buried in the filth they collected: “This was what you sought in dunya. This was what you strived for. Lie in it now!”. Aman Ya Rabbi. Be clean. At-Taharatu minal iman. Cleanliness is from faith, it says. May Allah grant us iman to understand and also may He dress us with a dress that is suitable for service. Go ahead O Shahi Mardan. A Sultan does not take money. A Sultan gives. The sultan of dunya collects from people. The Sultans of Akhirah do not take anything from dunya. Be clean. At-Taharatu minal iman. Whole world has become najis/dirty, it is far from cleanliness. The people of this time don’t know about cleanliness. Allahu Akbar! How do you stand in front of your Lord without tahara/cleanliness? Who cry for dunya, who shout & scream for dunya, who crush each other for dunya- these are not the people who have ranks. These are “ajaza”, in the helpless category, who shaytan tied & mounted.
May Allah save us from being the animal of shaytan. Dua, a perfect dua. There is no man left shaytan hasn’t mounted. Allah Allah. (Hasan Al-Basri said) “A person who we gave the bite of an elephant would come here and we would speak according to her level. Today that holy one didn’t come and this much is enough for you”. Our Allah- our Subhan, our Sultan. Grant us power and that we be busy with glorifying, praising You- (with Your tazim, tamjid, tasbih). May we not do anything else. Don’t live for dunya! Don’t live for the dirty dunya! Live for the service of that Sultan Who is the Owner of earths & Heavens. “What should I buy? What should I do? Where should I go?” Don’t live for your enjoyment. Live for the Sultan. Otherwise, if you sleep, shaytan immediately mounts you. If you live, live for the Sultan. The Sultan is who gives, he is who gives! Who takes can’t be Sultan. Wa min Allahi t-Tawfiq. Fatiha.
Allahu Allah Allahu Rabbi Allahu Allah! Allahu Hasbi. Masha’Allah. This word is from Shahi Mardan. This word is a very powerful word. Absorb these words. I am happy for this respectable son of mine. Insha Allah he is well respected in the diwan of awliya. He recited Fatiha Ash-Sharif all correct & straight. It was very beautiful. Insha Allah he will drink from those four rivers.. Allah, may our Lord forgive us. May He not expel us from His servanthood. What an honour is this honour- what a great honour it is to acknowledge our Lord as the Sultan, as the Sultan of the Universe (al-qawnu makan – space & existence) Where are we in this? Allahu Allah. “Kun fayakoon”! (36:82). Allah Who created these realms, He is the Sultan. O people, come to your senses. Don’t shout, don’t scream in the streets. Seek the Presence of Your Lord. Gather in the mosques & call “O our Lord! Ar-rizqu ‘ala Allah; You are the guarantor for our provision. Send us our provision in an easy way O Lord”. Go (to the mosque) for fajr prayer! Wake up for fajr prayer!
This is adab- this is adab for all humanity. Meaning, all people are humiliated because they forgot their Lord. They are eating each other in the streets. They said “A time will come when there will be qahtu rijal-a famine of men. A famine will come upon the world that there will be nothing left to eat and those people… May Allah not show us those days. Go ahead O Shahi Mardan. Those people will dig the graves, my son Shaykh Mehmet Effendi. They will dig the graves to see if there is any corpse that has a piece of meat left on it. They will be in need of this. O people! Come to your senses. Enter inside the circle of adab, carry the honour of faith and be honoured with the Service of Allah. Allah, the Sultan does not leave the ones at His door hungry.
O Lord, forgive us. Tawba Ya Rabbi. Fatiha. We are in the service of the Sultan, not of our ego. Since we are, then is there anyone hungry at the door of the Sultan? What is this thing? O scholars of Egypt, say this! Feed the ones who run, who clash like wild animals in the streets, saying “I will be this, you be that”. What will you be? In the end you will become a skeleton inside the grave. What do you strive for? Tawba Ya Rabbi, tawba AstaghfiruLlah. May our good days come. It is the holy month of Eid. We hope that Mahdi (alayhi s-salam) comes, and that the holy ones who will teach us come.
