Addressing Shaykh Muhammad Effendi, Mawlana criticizes modern educational systems for not teaching the young generations the true purpose of their being in this world. That is why, despite all the opportunities they might have, they remain empty handed. They are like the blind beggar in the story who calls on the sultan – “Ya Mahmud” – as opposed to his friend who calls on the Lord Almighty, the Only One Who can be truly worshiped – “Ya Ma’bud”.

Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. Unfortunately the whole world, the Muslim World also, has forgotten Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. Allah Almighty Jalla Jalaluhu created the Holy Pen. From the Greatness of His Glance upon it, the nib of the Pen cracked. The Ink, the Pen asked: “What should I write, O Lord?” He (swt) said “Write Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim”. Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim.” O our Lord do not make us from those who forget the Bismillah. Let us be remolded with the Bismillah, then we will be decent ones. “What should I write, O Lord?” When Allah Almighty looked upon it with His Greatness, the nib of the Pen opened. The Ink came. He (swt) said “Write, Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim”.
May we stand up with the Bismillah & sit with the Bismillah. What a great honour. He (swt) said: “Write Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim”. Therefore “Kullu dhi amrin lam yabda’a bi Bismillah, fa huwa abtar”. Is it not the Hadith? Whatever act starts without the Bismillah, it is cut off. It is of no use. They removed the Bismillah, they forgot it. Allah Allah. Then, some narrations say that, 700 years passed till the Holy Pen wrote Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim”. The Bismillah, this should be made known to the people- Put the Bismillah on your doors, in your homes, in your offices, in your cars & have no fear! Even if the world becomes upside down, that person will have no fear. Allah Allah! Allahu Akbar! How beautiful. Therefore let them say the Bismillah for 40x at least, let them recite. The best is to recite the Bismillah 100x, you know it. The blessings flow like this. The Mercy rains like a rushing river. What should we do?
They write many books about this, that.. They can’t say, they don’t know the essence of the matter. This informs- “Kullu amrin lam yabda’a bi Bismillah, fa huwa abtar” Before, the beginning of every book was Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim, taazim. You can’t finish the miracles of the Bismillah even if you write loads of books Sh Mehmet Effendi, it won’t finish. Allahu Akbarul Akbar. O Lord, may You forgive us. O Lord, may You forgive us. O Lord, may You send us from Your holy servants who will teach us, who will teach us these things. We are left bewildered. Tawba Ya Rabbi, Tawba Ya Rabbi.
For this they would take the children to the maktab(school), to the presence of the Hoja with a big crowd accompanying them. They would make it like a ceremony. And the Hoja would first say “Say O son, Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. Rabbi Yassir wa la tuassir, Rabbi tammim Bil khair”. What a beautiful beginning, what a beautiful adab. Mercy would rain on them.
Who forgets the Bismillah will be forgotten. There is not even a drop of Heavenly Support for them. Even if they bury him in gold, he will get up with his hands empty.
Now we are under the manifestation of Wrath. I seek refuge from it, I seek refuge from it, I seek refuge from it. I seek refuge from it. O Allah, O Lord, may You send us a Master. The people who should teach these, things, Sh Mehmet Effendi, the maktabs.. These ones filled everywhere with maktabs from concrete. They call school. Before our maktabs were in such a way that every mosque in a neighborhood had a room. Hoja Effendi there would teach the children- would teach “alif, ba”, would teach the Holy Quran. If one needed further education, they had madrasas- maktab madrasas. Every child taught in these maktabs would know the Bismillah, would not be without the Bismillah. Now people are raised without the Bismillah. They became without the Bismillah. Who forgets the Bismillah will be forgotten. There is not even a drop of Heavenly Support for them. Before one man said “Ya Ma’bud, Ya Mahmud”, you know it? Many times the Sultan stuffed a chicken, or a duck with gold & send it out to be given to whoever calls “Ya Mahmud” (name of the Sultan). So they gave it to two men, both of them were blind. First man looked at it & said “What is this? Give me a few coins, they sent a chicken here so I may give it to you, because I am not hungry”. Who called “Ya Mahmud” said like this to the one who called “Ya Ma’bud”. So he took it & looked (who said “O Ma’bud/O Lord”) & gave him (the one who called Ya Mahmud) a few coins. The Sultan again sent his men, asking “how are these men doing?” They said”Again one is saying ‘Ya Mabud’ but saying it with love. The other one says ‘Ya Mahmud, Ya Mahmud, Ya Mahmud’ (in a weak voice)” They sent to him again. Again he looked at it. “O my friend, something came again. I don’t know if it is a chicken or a duck. Give me a few coins & take this”. So he took it & looked. He saw that it is full inside. Sultan Mahmud asked again “What does this man do?” “Still he calls ‘Ya Mahmud'”. He said “Bring this one to my treasury & I give him from my treasury”. So they gave him, that one who calls “O Mahmud”, “take this shovel, whatever you can fill it with from the treasury, it is yours” they said. The poor one was blind, he held it from the wrong side. So when he shoveled like this, only 2 were left on it. Empty!
So the people have become like this. They are not calling to Allah. They are not calling to Allah. “We will do business, we will study, we will do this, that..”You make a mess! Finish, they have become zero. Our ancestors’ majesty is lost. Still that one who calls to Mahmud- Who calls to dunya calls to shaytan- Still he is all alone having nothing. Before people were not obsessed with education like now. One would go to maktab & learn, who wants more would go to madrasa. Now they removed the maktabs & madrasas. Everywhere is full with new schools, etc.. They can’t manage with the teachers- the huge government falls short of money to pay all these teachers. Maybe 100 000 teachers wait for payment but this is of no use. Even if you give them everything, they still say “we are hungry”. Because the work without the Bismillah has no result. So these ones are like this. Our religion is the most high, Islam.
Islam teaches everything but they are not learning, they are not teaching. They go after shaytan, worship him & forget Allah. And because of this reason they are never saved from troubles, miseries. Even if Turk’s whole land was from gold, still they would be left with the attribute of the poor, of the beggar. Because they don’t say Allah. Ok, don’t say. The Mercy taps are in the Heavens- Mercy, khair taps descend from the Heavens. But these ones look for them on the earth. Looking & looking, what did they find? They found sewages! They looked, is there anyone in the sewages? There is. The big ones, what do they call those that live in the sewages?

M. Rat. So they found from those big rats, walking in the dirty waters. They said “How nice are these, what a nice life is this. Everywhere is open as we like. We should wander around like them too”. So they all rushed in it saying “Ya Allah, let’s enter in this”. They didn’t say “Ya Allah” but I said to illustrate it. “Let’s get in this. These rats wander around very happily in this, we may also get in it”. So they got in it & can’t get out- the tasteless, dirty life. They fell into the dirty life. Shame on them. Allahu Akbar.
For 40 years on his own Sultan Abdul Hamid Han ruled, may paradise be his abode. Everyone had gold in their pockets, son. These ones now don’t even have paper in their pockets. Allah Jalla Jalaluhu (said) “You leave Me & live for your ego. Take it. Who live for Me, I provide them with everything”.
