Laylatul Qadr

Shaykh Muhammad Effendi speaks about the last 10 days of Ramadan and the blessings of its nights. Every Holy Book was delivered in the month of Ramadan. The Quran was brought down from the Preserved Tablet in one of the last 10 nights. The Prophet (ﷺ) did not specify which night because he was afraid that then the other nights would be ignored.

Sohbat of the 10th of August, 2012

As-Salamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahu wa Barakatuhu. Tariqatuna sohbah wa l-khayri fil jamia’

We are now in the most virtuous & blessed part of Ramadan. The last 10 days are the most virtuous days of Ramadan. When it is the last 10 days, our Prophet (ﷺ) would always be in I’tikaf. One year he was traveling so the next year he made it for 20 days, not 10 days but for 20 days.

And another virtue of this 10 days is that mostly Laylatul Qadr occurs in this last 10 days. Laylatul Qadr occurs in the last 10 days; it can be anywhere between the beginning of Ramadan till it’s end but mostly it is in this last 10 days. He(ﷺ) says the odd numbered days of the last 10 is more likely, but it can be the even numbered days also. They asked the Prophet (ﷺ), In the Hadith we read in the last Khutba, one of the Sahaba (ra)- Abdullah bin Anas (ra) asked the Prophet “Which day is it?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “If I was to tell you which day it is, then you would quit all prayers & pray that day only. You wouldn’t do anything else”. Therefore he didn’t tell. But he said “It can be the 23rd”. That year it was like this. The next year he said to Hz Bilal al-Habashi “it is the 24th”. Sometimes it is the 27th, 23rd, 29th.. And all that the Prophet (ﷺ) said is true. Some nights of Qadr it rains & on some it doesn’t rain. And that is a sign indicating that it doesn’t occur the same day every year.

It is the day that the Holy Quran descended from the Preserved Tablet to the Heaven of this world. It descended there & afterwards Jibril (alayhi s-salam) brought it to the Prophet part by part. But the sign of it descending from the Preserved Tablet was that it descended in the night of Qadr.

What is the virtue of the Laylatul Qadr? It is the day that the Holy Quran descended from the Preserved Tablet to the Heaven of this world. It descended there & afterwards Jibril (alayhi s-salam) brought it to the Prophet part by part. But the sign of it descending from the Preserved Tablet was that it descended in the night of Qadr. Other books came also in Ramadan. There were books that descended upon the Prophet Ibrahim (alayhi s-salam). Torah also descended upon Moses (alayhi s-salam) in Ramadan. Psalms also descended in Ramadan, the Holy Bible also descended in Ramadan. They descended on the 6th, 12th, 16th of Ramadan or around it but Quran at that time – in Laylatul Qadr. Mostly people celebrate it on the night of 27th out of respect for it, but it can be any night.

The wise word that Mawlana’s first Shaykh told him when they first met: “Consider every night as the night of Qadr & every person as Khidir (alayhi s-salam)”. Meaning, treat everyone as if he is an awliya and also show respect for every night, don’t miss its worship. Even if it is not the night of Qadr it is no harm to you but only benefit.

In the night of Qadr, as Allah (awj) says in the Surat al-Qadr, Jibril (alayhi s-salam)- what it means with Ruh is Ruh al-Quds, Jibril (alayhi s-salam). Angels- descend with 70 thousand angels. Until morning they give salam to the Muslims who are awake, standing & giving salams. They give out barakah until morning. They descended upon the order of Allah, as it is explained in the Verse, in the Surah. We are reciting & can’t understand what it means exactly, but basicly “Tanazzalu Al-Mala’ikatu Wa Ar-Ruhu Fiha” (97:4). What is meant with Ruh is Jibril. Meaning it is a night with great virtues. Allah granted this virtue to the Nation of our Prophet (ﷺ). The other nations did not have as many holy nights & days. Wisdom of Allah, because it is the Ummah of end of times & our Prophet (ﷺ) is the most Beloved of Allah, He (swt) granted it to him. As we said, the grants of Allah are coming one after another at some times.

People are waiting for the night of Qadr without getting tired of it. People all wait for the Holy nights. Why do they wait? The Mercy of Allah makes them wait these nights. And we also spoke about zakat yesterday, don’t forget zakat. And there is also sadaqah al-fitr, for each person it is approximately 15 Lira for the whole year. You can give it from the beginning of Ramadan till it’s end. It is better to give in the last 10 days & mustahabb to give by the morning of Eid but it is better to give beforehand so that people won’t forget. And the wisdom of this, as our Prophet (ﷺ) says: “A person’s fast remains suspended between the heavens & earth. With that fitr, it is accepted on Allah’s side, not left suspended- It reaches to the side of Allah as an accepted worship.” And this is the wisdom of it.

Today we speak about Laylatul Qadr. Laylatul Qadr this is one of the holy nights, the most holiest nights in Islam. And it is gift from Allah for our Prophet (ﷺ). Allah give this holy nights more for last Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) & his Ummah, Ummat al Muslimin, Islam. Because he is the most Beloved one in His (swt) Divine Presence. Alhamdulillah many holy nights, Allah give as gift for this ummah. But the most holiest one this and the night of the birth of the Prophet (ﷺ). Because Mawlid they say it is nearly similar.

This night it is coming from the Preserved Tablet. Coming to first Sky, and from there Jibril (alayhi s-salam), he bring it to Prophet (ﷺ) in 23 years, part by part. But the coming from Preserved Tablet, in this night. At once coming to world’s sky.

Why this night it is so holy? Because Quran, the Holy Book- the Word of Allah (awj), Holy Quran, He (swt) sent it in this night. This night it is coming from the Preserved Tablet. Coming to first Sky, and from there Jibril (alayhi s-salam), he bring it to Prophet (ﷺ) in 23 years, part by part. But the coming from Preserved Tablet, in this night. At once coming to world’s sky. Because in Ramadan, whole Holy Book coming in Ramadan. The Book coming from, Ibrahim (alayhi s-salam) coming in the 5th or 6th of Ramadan. Tawrat/Torah also coming on the 9th of Ramadan. Zabur/Psalms to David (as), coming also in Ramadan. Holy Bible also, real one, coming in Ramadan also. All Holy books coming in Ramadan. For this, Ramadan holy month.

And this Laylatul Qadr, it is very holy, most holiest night as we said. For this Allah, He give everything you can want. You want, He give. For this, He (swt) make it secret between days. But it is in Ramadan. Because Holy Quran coming in Ramadan, so it is in Ramadan. And it can be from beginning of Ramadan & until end of Ramadan, but the mostly after 20 of Ramadan people they can find it. Because in Khutba also we read one Hadith; one companion of Prophet (ﷺ) asking about this night. “Which night O Prophet (ﷺ), can you tell me, for this night?”  Prophet (ﷺ) said “I afraid if I told which night, you are not praying other nights, only you wait for this night”. So it is secret, wisdom to be secret- To be, to be doing worshipping every night.

Even first of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, when he first met his Shaykh in Istanbul first meeting, he was coming inside. First word he said for people they are his Shaykh (qs), he said “you must know every man as Khidir (alayhi s-salam).” Khidir, when you find him, he can give you what you want & he is only meeting with good people. “And every night you must worship as it is Qadr night, holy night.” For this, it is wisdom to worship. From beginning of Ramadan also you can worship but most of them coming after20. Prophet (ﷺ) tell this Sahaba, it is the 23rd night. It was like this that year. Second year Bilal al Habashi (ra), he was asking about it. He(ﷺ) said, 24th. For other people, saying 26th, 29th, 27th. All, it was right. Because it is moving, not in one night. So you can worship after 20th of Ramadan.

Even Prophet (ﷺ), he was leaving his house, coming to masjid & make I’tikaf and was worshipping. Sleeping little bit but he was more worshipping than sleeping. This is his wife, Aisha (ra) she was telling. Very little sleeping, after quickly he come to worshipping again. Specially in this last 10 days. It is most holy day of Ramadan. And yesterday we were telling about zakat. There is one point also. Prophet (ﷺ), he said for fasting. Fasting, when you fast it is hanging between earth & heaven. How it will be go? With sadaqa al-fitr. This is around 10 dollars, something like this for each people not for day, but for whole Ramadan. For this, the middle. If he is poor, he can give as he can give. But he is more between, he can give this. If he is more rich, he can give more. No .. not forbidden to give, he can give without asking. Allah reward him. And when this sadaqa going, it’s coming to heaven- fasting. You can give this from beginning of Ramadan until end. But to give after 20, it is better. Even better to give before Salat (eid) day. But it is difficult, maybe you can find that time somebody to give. So better if you can give the last 10 days.

Allah accept our ibadah/worshipping, fasting and many Ramadan also be with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim & insha Allah with Mahdi (alayhi s-salam). We hope. Insha Allah next year, insha Allah with Mahdi (as), Allah make us with him. And Allah give us what we ask from Him, good thing insha Allah. And Allah make us to meet Laylatul Qadr. Even once in life, it is enough.

Wa min Allah at-tawfiq, Al Fatiha.

G. My brother Ahmad, they are asking to open a dargah with your blessing in this 10 day of Ramadan insha Allah.

S.M. Insha Allah, Allah give. Mawlana Shaykh he said, will be open 40 000 dargahs insha Allah. Many dargah opening.

Fatiha.
