Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim
21 April marks the blessed birthday of our beloved Sultan ul-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Al-Haqqani An-Naqshbandi ق
Al Fatiha

“Would any rose ever smile if that Rose (ﷺ) did not exist?” Mawlana speaks of the Prophet (ﷺ) as a Rose whose fragrance scents all of creation. The Prophet took from the Divine Fragrance and gave to the world. We must seek the fragrance of this rose. This is our purpose in life: Seek the rose, be the rose if you can. Leave the ashes of this world and attune your senses to the Divine Fragrance.

The Fragrance Of The Rose
Sultan ul-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Al-Haqqani An-Naqshibandi (QS)
Sohbat of the 15th of August, Shawwal, 2013
May our day be good and our work be good. Let us look at each other and take benefit from each other’s Nur. Masha Allahu kana, wa ma lam yasha’ lam yakun. You are Subhan O Lord! Madad O Sahib Dawran, our Shahi Mardan. Your yaran admire you. May our assembly be blessed, O son. May it be beautiful. May it give comfort. May the troubles on us be lifted off. This is a morning joy, the morning glory; flowers open up beautifully in the morning. I remember those flowers. Early in the morning, my mother would go down and collect roses from her garden, and violets, and hyacinth flowers. The morning glory. Let holy Shahi Mardan go ahead with the glory of this day.
Welcome to you, O yaran of Shahi Mardan. The yaran of Shahi Mardan reach from the east to the west. Allahu Akbar. Go ahead O Shahi Mardan, your yaran admire you. They plead with you with love & longing. They are ready to receive from you the scents of the Magnificence of the Lord of Glory. The son of the Sultan of Prophets’ uncle is Shahi Mardan. And he takes from that garden of roses for us. The old ones would say like this: “Would the rose ever smile if that Rose(ﷺ) did not exist?” (rose also means “smile” in Turkish). “If it wasn’t for that Rose(ﷺ), would any rose ever smile?”. Allahu Akbar. Who is the Rose of the Creation? Yes.
“If it wasn’t for that Rose, would the rose ever smile?” it says. The rose is the rose that is presented to His Beloved from the Azamat-i Ilahiya (The Divine Majesty). His (ﷺ) rose smell filled the Creation.
Masha Allah. May our day be good, may our work be good. May our love & longing increase. May we make our steps for our Lord. Go ahead O Shahi Mardan. This arena is all yours. Masha Allah. “If it wasn’t for that Rose, would the rose ever smile?” it says. That rose is Janab-i Rasul – the rose that came from Janab-i Allah to the Creation. “If it wasn’t for that Rose, would the rose ever smile?” it says. It would not. Masha Allah. Go ahead O Shahi Mardan. Make an effort to smell that Rose. We would like to say “Be that rose” but that is far from us. At least come close to the rose, smell the rose. Smell the rose in the early morning time. Smell the rose so that you can smile. “If it wasn’t for that Rose, would the rose ever smile?” it says. The rose is the rose that is presented to His Beloved from the Azamat-i Ilahiya (The Divine Majesty). His (ﷺ) rose smell filled the Creation. But a donkey does not recognize the smell. Be one who has good sense that can distinguish the smells. Let yourself have a good sense.
Ya Rabbi, may we be granted also from these beautiful scents. Here Shahi Mardan explains, speaks on an order – The rose, the rose, don’t look for anything else.
Go ahead O Shahi Mardan, dastur. Let us be the rose. Let us be the rose. Masha Allah. Instead of being the rose, people today have become ashes. Ashes have no value. (gul vs kul- rose vs ash). O heedless one! For whom do you take your steps in dunya? It is a magnificent question – “O Man! For whom do you take your step in dunya?”. Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar. Go ahead O Shahi Mardan. You take your steps to smell that rose. You take your steps on earth, for what? You came to dunya to smell that Heavenly rose. Seek it. Ya Rabbi, may we be granted also from these beautiful scents. Here Shahi Mardan explains, speaks on an order – The rose, the rose, don’t look for anything else. O Shahi Mardan, may you speak from that holy rose. May we smell the scent of that heavenly rose. You smell it. Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Shahi Mardan speaks to us from the words of the lovers/ashiqin. Don’t be like a log, don’t be like a dry log. Seek & find that rose bush which has on it all kinds of roses, flowers; the one that is planted in earth but comes from Heavens.
O Shahi Mardan, your yaran admire you. The love of the yaran – who has no love is a dry log. Love, love so that you can be loved. It is the love which keeps people alive. Who loses love becomes a dry log. Marhaba O yaran of Shahi Mardan. These people set foot on earth with Adam. Adam, the Abu l-bashar, the ancestor of the people. He ran to here, ran to there. For what did he run, S. Mehmet Effendi? He looked for the smell of Paradise. Allahu Akbar. He ran around. What was it that he sought? The smell of Paradise. He looked for the smell of Paradise. Go ahead O Shahi Mardan. When he smelled the scent of Paradise, Adam came back to himself. He had lost his awareness, his self, until he smelled that scent of Paradise. And where did he find it? Where did he find it? Running around all over, he found it in that place where Al-Bayt Al-Muazzam was located. He ran there – Prophet Adam. Masha’Allah.
May Allah grant us from the scent of the heavenly roses. Who smells that scent has no fight, no quarrel, no argument left anymore. He starts looking for the possessor of that scent. So for the people to be able to look for the possessor of that scent Allah Almighty said to Prophet Abraham: “O Abraham, build My House so that they can come and smell. May you smell the scent of the guardian of My Heavenly Diwan, the Sultan of the children of Adam, the possessor of space & creation, so that you can know My scent”. Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar wa Lillahi-l Hamd. Man is such an honourable Man. Who forgets this and runs after the dirty dunya has no value, has no value at all. You should know the reason for your setting foot on dunya.
Allahu Dhu-l Jalal did not send you to dunya to make you eat beans, or meat, or vegetables, or fruits. May you smell that heavenly scent. You lost it in Paradise, may you look for it on earth. May you sense, smell that scent. “Turn towards it” He said, “it is My Bayt Al-Muazzam that I had built for My Habib(ﷺ) by his ancestor”. Al-Bayt Al-Muazzam. Allahu Akbar. Let us not go deeper. Let us not go deep. Marhaba, O yaran of Shahi Mardan. Let us go around within our limit for a while. What was the state of the people and what has it become now? Where were we and to where have we come? For what have we come? We were in Paradise. We were in Paradises. How did we lose that Paradise later? Because we sought what is better than Paradise. “But there is nothing better than Paradise. You want that? Go down and seek it in dunya!”. So he was brought down to dunya, Prophet Adam.
He ran here, ran there. “I can’t smell it, O our Lord Jalla wa ‘Ala Who is the Lord of the Habib, I can’t smell that scent” he said. “I can’t find that longing/shawk”. “Then let him go and turn towards the building My servant Abraham built, who built My House upon My Order, let him smell a scent- let him smell the scent of faith, the scent of Islam; smell the scent of love, the scent of longing, the scent of humanity. Let him receive the love & longing of the human level”. Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa Lillahi-l Hamd. Go ahead O Shahi Mardan. Our life is between two breaths- One breath enters and gives him life, one breath goes out and he gives his life.
Why do you exist in dunya, what do you want? A person who doesn’t know what he wants in dunya can’t know and can’t find what is beyond it. Such a person is a dry thorn; who is not aware of what is beyond dunya, who is not aware of why he has come to dunya is a dry thorn. We seek the rose. O children of Adam, the people of today! You have become heedless of Who created you. All these billions of people who fill this dunya have become heedless of their existence. There is no one now who asks, or who seeks, or who knows, or who finds out “for what do we exist?”. Go ahead O Shahi Mardan. Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar. We get up everyday – we get up by the Order of Allah. We go out. We are going out of the house. The one who goes out – Where are you going to? What are you looking for? “I am looking for a job”. What are you looking for? “I am going to my garden, to my land”. What are you looking for? “I am looking for a (job with) a monthly salary”. Well, this is a request which has no meaning, which is trash. Such a person is at zero level – the value of who comes to dunya and looks for gardens, lands, who looks for ranks like Bey, Pasha, is at zero level.
You came to dunya, (so that) you smell the scents of Paradises, so that you turn towards Allahu Dhu-l Jalal Who is the Owner of these Paradises. You have set foot in dunya. Make sajda saying “O My Lord! I make sajda to you”. Every difficulty you face becomes easy, turns out to be easy. O yaran of Shahi Mardan. How beautifully are you speaking. Shahi Mardan is saying beautifully: “I didn’t carry the sword to conquer dunya. I am the Shahi Mardan who came to conquer the hearts. I came to conquer the hearts. I came with the permission of the glorious Prophet”. The glorious Prophet is that one, whose glance “Mazagha-l basaru wa ma tagha” (53:17). On the night of Mi’raj, the Prophet of Zeeshan/Possessor of Splendor honoured all the Creation- it was made manifest before him. But when he reached the Presence of Rabbu-l Izzat “Mazagha-l basaru wa ma tagha” (53:17). “His sight didn’t turn away, nor did he look beyond.” He looked at one point only. Allahu Akbar!
O Glorious Prophet! May countless, endless Salatu Salams and glorifications be upon you. O glorious Prophet, We wish we received from your beautiful smell also, that we smelled your beautiful scent also. The glorious Prophet! We would be decent ones. Those who received from the smell of that glorious Prophet became the anbiya- they became the Prophets. Innahu min Sulaymana wa innahu Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. (27:30) His smell was like this: Balqis, the Queen of Sheba got surprised. With the Bismillah, that beautiful smell came. She fell into sajda, saying “I became a queen because of this. My aim by being the Queen of Sheba was to find this smell. It was to find myself – to find myself, to know myself. This door opened to me – Innahu min Sulaymana wa innahu Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim”. Subhansin Ya Rabb. Masha’Allahu kan.
For the honour of Your Beloved Habib. O Shahi Mardan, your yaran admire you. We want – we want love & longing. We don’t want to be animals. But the people of today insist on being animals. They don’t want to be a nabi (prophet) and go up to the Heavens. The huge Christian world says “The Jesus we acknowledge went up to Heavens”. Then what is your business in dunya? What business do you have? Is it to build huge churches, sit in them and light candles? Say O Pope! Say! Did Prophet Jesus show you the way to Heavens or did he show you the way to churches – for lighting candles in the churches? The people are left behind, they have no understanding left. There is no one who teaches about love & longing, or the ways of being Man. They have become zero. Go ahead O Shahi Mardan. Let us say, Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim.
Yes, Shahi Mardan. Your speech makes your yaran happy. Allahu Akbar. It will happen. “O Shahi Mardan, step on the stirrup of the horse like a Man”, Allahu Akbar!
“O hunqar, O ghazi hunqar! – Step on the stirrup of the horse firmly”, does it say like this? They would call to the Sultan like this: “O ghazi hunqar! Step on the stirrup of the horse like a Man”. He stepped like this, drew his sword and marched like this. Where are you O Ottomans?! You have become Turks, you have become Turk. Europe still trembles when one says “Ottoman” and you are the nation that insults the Ottomans. The honour of the Ottomans is such that, on their foreheads is written Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. The soldiers would applaud on their horses: “O Shahi Mardan! Step on the stirrup of the horse like a Man”. When the Sultan drew his sword, the world would shake with his majesty. Where is your majesty, O Turks? What is your majesty? Why don’t you show it? A tribe of a handful people, called KaraKecili (of the black goat/Ottomans)- a handful of Muslims who are from the KaraKecili conquered the world. And what have you done?
Yes, Shahi Mardan. Your speech makes your yaran happy. Allahu Akbar. It will happen. “O Shahi Mardan, step on the stirrup of the horse like a Man”, Allahu Akbar! O Turks, hear this! You threw away the Sultans and brought the apes who are like yourselves. Keep quiet. Don’t take offense. Don’t look to who says it but look to who makes it to be said. Not even one among you will remain if you don’t raise the name of the Ottomans. All of them will be gone by the coming Eid. “Step on the stirrup of the horse like a Man”. They were the ones who marched saying “Allahu Akbar”! East & West would shine, we had such a dignity. They have become zero now. If we start with the nations of the Prophet Jesus, we won’t finish till night. This is enough. Now they are fighting each other – “You are this party, I am this party”. Leave the parties. There are no parties- Wa’tasimu bihabli llahi jami’an wa la tafarraqu.(3:103) (Hold together to the rope of God and don’t divide) ‘Innama l-mu’minuna ikhwatun (The believers are brothers) “Fa aslihu bayna akhawaykum” (so make peace between them) (49:10)
It will come. It will wipe off this dirty dunya along with the bad ones. A new world will come. May Allah show us the days when the flags of Islam will be raised, May Allah show us the Sultans.
Fatiha.
